mkv files not recgonized in 9.9.14

I've recently started to save my files as mkv's.   When I scan for new movies they don't import and when I try a manual import they are not recognized in at all.  Do I need some type of plug in?  Txs

There should be no problem with MKV's (mine work fine). Is it included in the File Extensions list at Preferences - File Scanner? Is there anything else in the file scanner preferences that is causing them to be excluded—due a different file path or file naming convention?

After checking the extensions I see it is M4V and that extension doesn't seem to be in my preferences.  Is this a working file extension?  If so how do I add it?  Txs

I figured it out...I typed in .m4v extension and hit add under preferences and file scanner.  Too simple, I had to complicate it. Txs for the wonderful program.
