Firefox/forum problem displaying attached images

rick.ca:
Normally, clicking on the thumbnail of an image attached to a post displays that image. This has recently stopped working for me in Firefox (3.5.6, now 3.5.7) running in Windows 7. There's no change in Safe Mode, with the cache cleared and firewall disabled. I can only view them by downloading the image using the link. It works normally in IE and Chrome. I'm wondering if anyone here is having the same problem and/or knows what the solution is.

mgpw4me@yahoo.com:
Try turning off your firewall.  Test firefox.  Turn firewall back on.

Fix firewall settings, I think  ;D

I tried that, and I've since tried disabling everything McAfee does (malware, scripts, etc.), but that made no difference either. It seems clear it's a Firefox issue. But a search doesn't find anything relevant. Maybe it would help if I knew the proper term for whatever that web process is. I see the thumbnail links are of the form...

...but I don't really understand what that means—other than to guess it's a PHP script command to download and display an image. This URL, BTW, will open the original image in a new tab, but it does nothing when the thumbnail is clicked.

mgpw4me@yahoo.com:
Ahhh.  The old image scripting issue.  Images displayed via script are considered a threat.  Norton was one of the first to cause me grief with this.

Check your internet security settings in the control panel.  You'll probably find what you want in the advanced section worded similarly to 'image scripting'.

Sorry, I don't understand what bearing this has on the resolution of the problem. Are you suggesting Firefox is preventing the display of the image because it thinks it's an exploit?
