String Functions in Export Templates

I would like to see more string functions available in Export Templates.  Currently, I am exporting a large database for use with Roksbox and while the full mpaa string works, I am trying to cut down the size of the xml file for performance reasons.  I would like to create an export template where I extract "Rated R" from the mpaa string that looks like "Rated R for language, drug use and sexual references."

Additional string functions, such as the ones offered in the scripting engine, would help.  All I would need to achieve this would be something similar to the PosFrom and Copy functions in the script engine.

If there is already a way to do this, please point me in the right direction.
