Title: Amazon plugin stoped working
Post by: gear on October 23, 2013, 02:07:50 pm
It's been a couple of days that my amazon.com and amazon.co.uk plugins stoped working and although sometimes covers are shown to chose, the selected cover is not imported and I get Socket Error #11001 "Host not Found".

Has amazon changed again their files ? Can anybody confirm pls ?

(Example: Tried to import from amazon.co.uk the BD cover of "Season of the Witch" (2010), with no success).

In all Amazon plugin has the same problem.
For example, the URL looks like this:

http://www.amazon.comhttp//www.amazon.com/100-Girls-Jonathan-Tucker/dp/B000JQY7WM/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1382546950&sr=1-1&keywords=100+Girls?ie=UTF8&tag=persvidedata-20        ??? ???

All Amazon plugin must be repaired.

Adjustments are necessary to:

All Amazon plugin must be repaired, also Amazon.com, although this works, but if you confirm the transfer of the poster, where is the link to on Amazon Instant Video Poster pages (for example, added on link below), then the Amazon.com plugin does not work (message "No movies found: (" - attached is a screenshot).

Yes, that's right, we had to wait a bit to update, thanks.

Yes, it's okay now.

In other Amazon (Amazonuk, Amazonde, Amazonfr) plugins an error occurs in the search for posters. Error, however, to individual searches appear as an option to download a poster confirmation of a link to the A9 website (Amazon title : Search powered by A9) (http://a9.com/?src=amz_spb_sas?ie=UTF8&tag=persvidedata-20) (see attached picture).

An example is the search results for A Man Betrayed (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search?ie=UTF8&keywords=A+Man+Betrayed&tag=persvidedata-20&index=dvd&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325) movie posters.

Hi guys,

There's something still really wonky with the Amazon poster thing.  I have been constantly getting the No Movies Found error, though sometimes it works if I restart PVD.  I found this thread and set Amazon.com (not .co.uk) as my default for posters, and it works better, but it's still behaving strangely.  Please note, I'm still working my way into PVD so the problem could be on my side, as you will see:

When adding a new movie master, I get a list of possible posters.  I select one, wait a while, and then I get another list.  I cancel this list as the first selection was fine, but the poster then selected seems to be a default (first in one of the lists, I guess).  If I then try to change it, the same thing happens - two lists, and I can't select a poster from the first list.

I suspect this has something to do with when I select the film[year] in the initial search list.  The check box can be either solid or a check.  I think this means there is more than one match for the listing, and when I select it, all are downloaded.  I'm trying to learn how to get the right one, but not there yet.  The problem is - how do I select the correct poster after I have unfortunately entered more than one film in my DB?  I can only see that I have to delete it and start again.

Finally, is there any chance that the other Amazon plug-ins will be repaired one day?  The Amazon.com posters are not usually the same as the UK, FR or DE ones.

Thanks for your help and keep up the good work!

Hi again,

Somehow I managed to get only one list to be displayed (I had the solid check box, rather than the check mark), but when I selected the correct poster, I get a Socket Error #11001, Host not found. error.  I'm not getting very far, am I  :'(

I have a similar problem as you, Dylan, basically not doing anything wrong, the problem is in the Amazon plug-in. I noticed a problem with the Amazon plug-in from 12 June onwards, when the last update was made for all Amazon plug-ins.

Amazon.com plugin will be transferred poster in most cases only when you confirm the transfer of the poster in the list of results, where the link on Amazon Instant Video Poster page.

When Amazon plugin does not transfer the poster:
In version 1.0.2.7 appears this message "No movies found: ("
In version 0.9.9.21 appears this - see attached screenshots

There is also this one problem: (http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php/topic,3417.msg18440.html#msg18440)

Amazon plug-ins are necessary updates.

Yes it is.

Amazon.fr plugin, which is added on the download page (http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php?action=down), the system automatically update can not detect the plugin:

  -  current updated version is v0.1.1.6
  -  last updated version of 12 June 2014 also is v0.1.1.6

Even in my searches with Amazon.co.uk plugin the occasional occurrence of this problem, which can be solved in the following way, then again it works:

I have installed all the Amazon plugin. Always use the first Amazon.com plugin for finding posters, this plugin always works. Then use for example, Amazon.co.uk plugin, Amazon.de plugin and Amazon.fr plugin. However, if the Amazon.co.uk plugin currently not working, change the order of the plugin that it operates searching posters.

This problem can also occur if the your search for a specific movie title did not match any products.
For example:
Quote
Your search for "Der Schatz der Aztec" did not match any products.

If you look on Amazon.com to search for and display the results, the search and display the results a bit different than on other local Amazon web pages. For this reason, perhaps less of a problem with the plug-ins in the search for posters.

Thank you Ivek23 for your answer.

All the amazon's files where updated to the current versions, recently (automatically).

Mysteriously, after an hour, everything started working properly. It is true though that sometimes some posters are not found, although they exist.

Thank you again for the help.

... if you confirm the transfer of the poster, where is the link to on Amazon Instant Video Poster pages (for example, added on link below), then the Amazon.com plugin does not work (message "No movies found: (" - attached is a screenshot).

http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Rush-Joseph-Gordon-Levitt/dp/B00AMS38YU/ref=sr_1_2/185-9951632-3885768?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1401891604&sr=1-2&keywords=Premium?ie=UTF8&tag=persvidedata-20
more on this in here: http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php/topic,3417.msg18429.html#msg18429

This again does not work, because the changes were at Amazon Instant Video Poster pages.
There is amazon_poster script as a temporary solution for this problem:

amazon_poster script has this bug, because it does not operate in search results, so it is necessary to manually enter Amazon Instant Video Poster url address in PVD database that the script sends Amazon Instant Video Poster, if you want to have such a poster for a particular film, then can this url also removed from the PVD database (changes in the Amazon Instant Video Poster pages, the script found search results, but now can not find a solution for this problem, so it is welcome any solution to this problem).

The script is attached.

Since Amazon plug-ins do not download posters for Amazon Video, there's amazon_poster (A Video) script, which now also downloads posters for Amazon Video.

The script is attached in the next post.
