When scanning folders for movie files, sometimes the tool makes a mistake, and even though the movie card already exists (without a file path), it proposes to "add a new movie".
I know you can switch from "set file path/change file path" to "add a new movie", but can you do the reverse?
I would like to switch the action from "add new movie" to "set file path", i would then choose the corresponding film card and point it to the file that was discovered by the scan.
Is this possible?

My collection is constantly changing on my hard drive, I add movies of course but I also delete some that I don't want to keep.
Let's say I delete a movie from my hard drive, how could this be automatically reflected into PVD?
I was thinking the best way would be that PVD, when not finding the movie file anymore on the HD, removes the path for the given movie.
I understand this might cause problem for some but it would be nice to have an option to tick for this.
Or maybe it is there and I missed it?
If it does not exist and if I have to wait for future enhancements, what would you suggest I do, how do you manage movie removals?

I've been using Kinopoisk poster import script for a while now but it seems it is not working properly anymore. well at least for me.
It finds the posters on but once i choose one for download it tells me "No movie found".
I am not sure many people are using it, but does anyone have the same problem?
I'm attaching it to this message just in case.

Personally I use IMDB to replace "Original Title", and I keep the "title" as I had it, for example an English translation of a Japanese title.
Also I have IMDB populating the AKA field for me as this is useful info.

Hi Nostra,
Sorry for the late reply, I was away in a No-Internet connection zone (yes it's possible).
I'm using XP Sp2.
My database is about 500Mb so in order to attach it here i am trying to reduce its size by removing 99% of the movies (after backing it up of course), the size does not seem to have been reduced one bit. I have removed all people info and all movies (invisible and visible) except about 10.
How can I send this to you? Rapidshare?

« on: October 13, 2009, 08:06:54 am »OK I have removed firebird the shared libraries, now every time I try to open ANY database, even the TEST one that I use to test various things (and with which I had never used the "connect to server"), I get an error saying "can't find fbembed.dll".
I have then uninstalled pvd, and re-installed it. I am now back to the same error than before. (my TEST database works fine)
This is beyond me...any suggestion?

I will try to completely uninstall firebird cleaning the registry etc... however before I start, can you tell me where I can find the shared libraries to delete?

It's once I unisntall firebird or if I try to just open my database like any regular file that I get the error message.
Maybe I should install the previous firebird version and see if once I have opened the database with it I can then open the file?
I'm completely lost, I'm not even sure of what i am talking about here... I just hope someone can actually tell me how I can get rid of firebird with no risk of loosing access to me PRECIOUS pvd database.

« on: October 10, 2009, 07:43:52 pm »It's driving me crazy, I have uninstalled PVD, (deleted settings) then re-downloaded it, re-installed it, and started the portable.bat.
I then used the Open to point it to my database, and it still gives me the error.
If I use "connect to server" and point to it, it's opening fine...
What are we missing here? I would like to save it "as" but the option is greyed out.
I have copied it somewhere else, renamed it, and tried opening it and I got the same error message.
By the way there are two successive error messages: "1:unsupported on-disk structure for file..... found 11.1, sipport 11.0 wrong or obsolete version. Error code 59

I have been using version 14 for a while now., amd never had any problem with the update to it.

I would like to know if it is possible to export only movies I would select in the database, and not the whole database.
The reason why am I asking is that I use an XBMC export and I don't want to have to re-run it on my whole database (long process), only on new movies I would add to my collection.

« on: October 10, 2009, 01:09:07 pm »I went to the config file because database would not open with the "open" command, I removed what I thought might be the right stuf to delete (correct me if I'm wrong) so that it looked like this:
[DataBase]
FileName=
Mode=0
RecentFiles=
Network=0
RecentTypes=
I still get the error when opening my database.
The only way to open it is to connect to it through "connect to server" which I don't want to do because I just do not have any use for it.
Don't know what to try next.

I have tried using the pvdimport plugin with media center 14 recently. This required the installation of firebird and I had to use the "connect to server" fonction in PVD.
Now that I've finished testing and decided not to use this plugin I wanted to remove firebird so I uninstalled it from my computer.
And PVD gives me an error everytime I want to open my database (unsupported on-disk structure...error code 59)
I'm thinking of re-installing firebird but I don't want to have to have firebird services running in order to use PVD, especially when transferring the database to be used on another computer that does not have firebird.
I know there must be a simple option somewhere in pvd but can't find it:
How do I tell PVD not to try to connect to a server anymore?

Support / Small bug when scanning hard drive?

I have moved movies from burnt dvd's to hard drive and I am scanning the HDD for new movies and of course it finds "similar entries" in the database, and this is great.
However when I say OK to replace, all fields stay OK and the new filepath is added, but the year becomes "-1" and the "original title" field get emptied.
I have just upgraded to version 14, would you know the problem?

correct me if I'm saying something stupid but from what I have read of your post Rick, you're looking for a way to have the image file saved beside the movie file automatically.
With my test config this actually worked perfectly using CAD's script.
I ended up with posters files right next to my .avi file with the same name.
Unless you meant other types of images? (i.e. not posters?)
