Title: Font sizes of interface
Post by: Mango on March 20, 2012, 04:30:53 am
I'd like to see an option to change the font size of the interface itself, I find it hard to read the small fonts of menus and settings.

Those are controlled by Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Window Color and Appearance\Advanced appearance settings... in Windows 7. They should look the same as in any other application.

No that doesn't work, thats for the window frame not the content (*). Nor should it, its the job of the application to have a setting for this, not to have the system try and shoehorn everything to a system setting.

Are you the programmer?

(* If you can tell me which of those windows setting changes the font size of Preferences/Movies/Filter Episodes then i stand corrected on the working aspect)

You can change the DPI setting in your OS to make all texts in all applications bigger. AFAIK you can change font for the menus and titlebar in "Personalization".
The Skin system in PVD allows you customize pretty everything in the information cards. More info can be found here: http://www.videodb.info/help/hlp_skins.html
The font in the movie/person list can be customized in Preferences -> Appearance (version 1.x Beta)

Yeah but thats the output isn't it? I was talking about the actual interface, since its hard to see the settings.

Oh well. if I can't get it to fetch anything on any movie I suppose it doesn't matter.

Then changing DPI is your only option.

Multiple users have reported problems with IMDB. I will definitely take a look at it ASAP.

Well that will break a lot of other programs. The only option is hoping the programmer will add a feature *nudge* *nudge*

I am the programmer and I am sorry to say, but such functionality will not be implemented any time soon. In fact: I have never seen an application doing this unless it uses some kind of skinning system for the whole interface.

Well, most programmers are young with perfect eyes who don't care, so you are probably right.
Oh well.

It seems your inability to see has more to do with your attitude than your eyes. ::)

This has nothing to do with applications. The caring, thoughtful programmers at Microsoft have already provided all the tools necessary to help those with impaired vision. The advice I gave you in the first place was correct, based on the information you provided. As nostra has since indicated, the source of your problem with respect to standard dialogs is in how you've configured the various display aspects of Windows—primarily display resolution and font size. See Control Panel\Ease of Access\Ease of Access Center.
