Title: problem splitting photos from a 5gb .pvd file
Post by: abubin on December 09, 2013, 07:19:47 pm
i need to split out the images from the database to file. My DB size is 5gb. However, PVD have problem in splitting it up. While running the split, the memory usage keep on increasing until it reaches 2gb (limit of 32bit apps memory usage) and PVD crash.

Anyway to overcome this problem?

I will check if I can fix this from my side, but you would need to wait until next year (I am currently pretty busy).
What you could do with version 1 is using copy/paste to split the database and then move images to the HDD for each database.

the copy and paste is not as straighforward as it seems. After a lot of crashes, I found that I can only copy and paste around 40 entries. Anything more will trigger "out of memory" error in PVD and crash the software. Before the crash, I noted less than 500mb of memory usage. I guess this is the limit of the copy and paste memory usage for PVD.

So now, with the help of Ditto clipboard tool, I am trying to copy the thing over faster.
