Title: 1.0.2.7 Update
Post by: spencebj on February 18, 2018, 09:27:58 am
Yesterday I updated to this version after receiving a request to do so for sometime.  I now have an issue with trying to enter a new movie.  When i enter the title and import the information from IMDB, it will give me a list of suggested movies as it has always done.  When i select the title i wish and click ok, i now get "IOHandler value is not valid".  I have rebooted my system. I have uninstalled and reinstalled PVD. I haveupdated the plugins.  I even tried installing this version on a separate PC to no avail.

In the five minutes between using the PVD to enter several movies, then closing the application, then almost immediately reopening it and getting the update message and clicking OK, i did not update any programs, firewall, security software, or any other items. I had not even opened any other applications in between.

Any suggestions?  I am running Windows 7 Professional on a desktop.  Memory or disk storage are not an issue.

I do get this problem too, running 0.9.9.21.
I can tackle this by pasting the IMDB url into PVD.
Beware not the https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4378376
But www.imdb.com/title/tt4378376
It works for me, not sure if it will in your version.
Full cast in film and/or episodes will still not work,
others I want will.
I guess we have to be patient untill Ivek can help
us out.
Hope this helps

This works.  Thanks, I had not thought of that one.  It is a work-around that we can hopefully have resolved.

Hi Ivek,

Very glad you are around again and hope your eyesight has improved to normal/acceptable standards.

For full cast credits I use the latest script I could find e.g. Imdb Movie(cast-episode)2.psf and it worked fine until (I'd guess) IMDB started with HTTPS url's. The other thing I use on IMDB is tech specs, which still works.

All the best.

I am also having this problem.

Since the permanent departure of Nostra some years ago, I had been using PVD 1.0.2.7 with lots of problems, copying and pasting many fields (including the movie title) from the IMDB site, until Feb 18.

Now, PVD seems totally hopeless. What a pity !.

@UtNut

Will you kindly explain how and where you paste the IMDB url?

@Ivek, @spencebj, @patrick1965

Where can I find, download and use imdb scripts ("cast-episode2.psf") or whatever?
I have been using PVD ver. 1.0.2.7 with its original plugins and scripts.

How, just goto the relevant IMDB movie page and copy the url as you can see in the picture, make sure that is all you copy.

Where is depending on what skin you use, I use PVD Download Manager which pretty straight forward. It has a specific field called URL:

@UtNut

Thank you for your reply.

I have been using PVD since 2010. I have always used "PVD Classic" skin. But I had unticked many fields that I did not need (Preferences - Movies - Visible Items). The "Url" field was one of those unticked fields. I must have forgotten those unticked "visible items fields". Finally I figured it out.

Your method saved my life for the time being . Thanks.

Hi, I've tried all the scripts like cast-episode2.psf but nobody works. I also tried to delete the http protocol but nothing (IOHandler exception). Where can I download a script that works? The same goes for the awards.

A bit will have to wait, as IMDb has also started to use https secure connection. Because IMDb is in addition to regular http connections it also uses https secure connection, so your scripes do not work. There is a program called Proxomitron (http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php/topic,4083.0.html), which is likely to solve this problem. I do not know this at the moment, because I have not been able to verify this yet (the reason is the new reading glasses, which are slightly different from those I used before cataract surgery on my left eye). For Proxomitron (http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php/topic,4083.0.html), I need to first edit the default.cfg file and then make tests if it works well. Once the thing is so far tested that it will work properly, I will then upload it to the forum and write the instructions for use. This will take quite some time, so please for a little patience and check further news on this problem.

The current solution is Proxomitron (http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php/topic,4083.0.html), which also works on IMDb sites with a secure https connection, so Imdb scripts will work smoothly.

The instructions are in Proxomitron - the next https solution for PVD (http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php/topic,4083.0.html) topic. You also have a default.cfg file that you will replace with the same default.cfg file that is added here - attached.

default.cfg is attached.

Quote
Operation Proxomitron program:

1.) Run the Proxomitron program

2.) Run the PVD program

3.) Start any Amazon plugin and then allow or not allow the operation of Amazon plugin

Under number 3, in this case, run any Imdb plugin or script and then allow or not allow the operation of Imdb plugin or script.

When I can, I will be able to repair any Imdb scripts that need fixes.

Imdb Movie(awards) scripts find in Imdb Movie(awards) Script topic. Topic find in below link:

Hello, but you are sure that it uses https, because to download the full cast just add the string fullcredits at the end of the url.
Furthermore, no script awards work.

Hello, but you are sure that it uses https,

Example for 10 Things I Hate About You (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0147800/)

if this url http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0147800/reference imdb used http url address

if this url http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0147800/combined the imdb http url address is automatically redirected to a secure https address as it is written down below
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0147800/reference

Hello Ivek,

And thank you for this update. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. I can clearly recognize this code in default.cfg:
Code: [Select]
In = TRUE
Out = FALSE
Key = "Location: imdb.com (In)"
URL = "(www.|)imdb.com/"
Match = "https://(st.kp.yandex.net|www.imdb.com)\1/\2"
Replace = "http://\1/\2"

In = FALSE
Out = TRUE
Key = "URL: imdb.com (Out)"
URL = "((www.|)imdb.com|st.kp.yandex.net)/"
Match = "http://\1"
Replace = "$RDIR(https://\1)"
,

but still IMDb gives me "IO Handler Value is not Valid" Error, although PVD's proxy is set to 127.0.0.1:80. Hence, Allmovie https still working great, invoking Proxomitron. What could it be?

Thank you in advance
afrocuban

afrocuban, try this part of the code in default.cfg:

Code: [Select]
In = FALSE
Out = TRUE
Key = "URL: imdb.com (Out)"
URL = "((www.|)imdb.com|st.kp.yandex.net)/"
Match = "http://\1"
Replace = "$RDIR(https://\1)"

In = TRUE
Out = FALSE
Key = "Location: imdb.com (In)"
URL = "(www.|)imdb.com/"
Match = "https://(st.kp.yandex.net|www.imdb.com)\1/\2"
Replace = "http://\1/\2"

In = FALSE
Out = TRUE
Key = "URL: imdb.com (Out)"
URL = "((www.|)imdb.com|st.kp.yandex.net)/"
Match = "http://\1"
Replace = "$RDIR(https://\1)"

Maybe it will work now,, otherwise it will be necessary to fix the certain Imdb scripts to a normal http link. If it will really so, then add the list of Imdb script, that I will know, which Imdb scripts I need to be fixed in your case.

Thanks Ivek,

I will try it for sure. What I have realized meanwhile is something strange, how it happened: I added a movie via Movie Master but only file info, not online data. So I got screenshots, video data, etc. Mysteriously, and without my noticing, in URL field imdb url was imported?! When I tried afterward to get online data, I got the IO Handler error. I tried several times, then came here to write about it. Waiting for some answer I noticed imdb url in the URL field (it was http). I deleted it, tried to import data and voila everything worked? Absolutely weird.

But, what is the strangest thing is that my imdb plugin/scripts work without Proxo? I have a batch file:

NAME=IMDBFull
DESC=IMDBFull
TYPE=2
EXECUTE=Imdb Title, Original Tile and Year.psf|imdb.dll|Imdb Url on the first page and IMDbID.psf|Imdb Top 250, IMDb Rating and Studio.psf|Imdb Movie(plotsummary).psf|Imdb Tech Specs.psf|Imdb Movie Photo(Poster)(2).psf|Imdb Movie(awards) 1.psf|

and it works perfectly with or without Proxo and it covers everything to be imported from imdb. They have some custom fields, but if you want me I can upload them.

Kind regards

You can upload .psf files to make it easier to check.

afrocuban, I checked it, but unfortunately I did not find it and could figure out what mistake it would be in this case, but this is all a bit strange.

When I can, I hope this will be done as soon as possible, I edit the Imdb scripts for you and other users. Certain Imdb scripts need fixes, especially because of URLs that are sometimes incorrectly written to the normal url field or in the custom field.

Scripts are located in the Program folder> Scripts. They are used in the same way as plugins.

The Imdb plugin with Proxomitron can easily download some information for this movie.

Obviously, something blocks you from the Imdb plugin to have access to the Imdb website. Do you use PVD with a proxy server and these settings for it?
It will also act PVD, you must also PVD settings \ Internet connection, find the "Proxy" and confirm. In the "Server" field enter "localhost" Port settings to 80 . Only with this configuration will function properly PVD. PVD is used only proxy port 80.
