Added a zipped version in the first post.

Oops, sorry I just installed the full version and didn't look at the 'zip'.

Thanks

Thanks.

Thanks. That seems to be working just fine.

And thaks to Nostra for all his hard work - I don't know what I would do without PVD.

I have just updated to IMDB Plugin 0.9.8.12 and noticed that it is not updating individual episodes, even if you go into the specific episode first.

Has anyone else come across this or is it just me?

Thanks Nostra, I was expecting it to take longer.

I have to add the episodes manually and enter the URL into each one. I can then get the episodes to update but not the series entry.

Pretty much the same except mine is a manual version.

Any idea who updates the plugins?

Development / IMDb.com script not working with Series Updates
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:37:21 pm »
Hi, is anyone else having trouble updating Series information from IMDb.com?

It appears to go through the process of downloading etc. until it gets to the 'Downloading http://www.imdb.com/.../episodes' section and the crashes out adding a second URL the same as the first but ending with 'episodes'.

Once the second URL is entered it seems to go nowhere because that is what it checks first.

I had a quick look at the IMDb site and there does appear to be some changes to the way the Series information is displayed.

Is there a fix for this on the way or any suggestions how to get arround it please?

Development / Re: Sorting using a Custom Field during export.

Hi, sorry to disappoint. I entered the certificate info myself into the ‘release’ field but it could have been any custom field.

The easiest way if you have a lot of them is to export them to a .csv file, edit the appropriate field content and then import the changes. You must remember to include the record ID as one of the import/export fields.

I then use the export expression #stringreplace to convert the text into a number for sorting etc. for a website. See the Screen Captures.

Thanks, that sounds even simpler than I expected.

Do I need to install the application if I'm running it in 'portable' mode?

I was wondering if it would make any difference to the speed and/or stability if I simply copied it to a location and ran it from there.

OK, thanks, I'll give that a try.

Another question for you...

I use multiple boot drives and I physically remove the current hard disk and then place a different one into my computer using a hard drive rack system.
This means that the C Drive is always changing but all my other drive remain unchanged.

Is there any way I can place the export template files somewhere other than on my C Drive?
I was wondering if they could go under '\My Documents\Personal Video Database\Templates\' for example but I can't see any way of pointing the program to look there.

Again, if this is not an option now, could it be included in the new version.

That's good to hear. Thanks

Where is the best place to download the latest version from?

I assume that once it is installed it will update automatically?

Good to know about the 'count' field changes in the new version - thanks.

Is the listing of full Episode information something that will come with this new version?

At the moment there seems to be no way to list things like Duration, Release Date etc. for episodes which would be really useful for creating web pages etc.

Thanks for letting me know.

Two other question I have...

1. Could you tell me what the '(Media) Count' field does please?

I assumed that it was a count of the files associated to the series or film as entered in the 'File Path' field.
No matter what I enter it just resets to 1 whenever I change anything in the File Path field.

Is there any other field I can use that automatically counts the number of files entered into the File Path field?

2. Is there any way of exporting the 'Release Date' associated with each episode? All I seem to be able to get is the Release Date for the series.

I have looked through the list of available fields and it doesn’t seem to be mentioned under episode data and the ‘rdate’ field produces nothing.

WOW, thanks for that. I have been having a look at it for hours now. It's way over my head but a good place to start.

Thanks.

It's a bit complicated, but here goes.

I am using the 'Release' field for storing UK Certifications e.g. 'U', 'PG', '12A' etc.
The reason for using the Release field is so that it appears in the List, formatted as '%T (%Y) %R' giving me 'Avatar (2009) 12A'.

I then found that if you sort by the Release field it sorts it into 12, 12A, 15, 18, PG, U which is out of age order.
I now use the 'Barcode' field in addition and enter 10 for U, 20 for PG, 30 for 12A, 40 for 12, 50 for 15 and 60 for 18.

This means that I can now sort the Certification correctly for output to a web page. The problem still remains that the names are out of sequence.
I have tried re-indexing the database but this does not help either.

Take a look at the images; maybe they can explain it better.

I also need to do this with the Year and IMDb Ratings so that my individual lists would appear as follows
    Type           Sort By        List Output
    Normal        Title             Avatar
    Cert            Barcode        12    Avatar
    Rating         IMDb            8.1   Avatar
    Year            Year             2009  Avatar

I have got all of these working, apart from the seemingly random order of the titles except where the title is the sort field.
