Support / Saving and updating PVD file?

Okay so I'm just paranoid about keeping my PVD (personal video database) file safe.. I've reached 648 movies now, and my version is 0.9.9.21.

I've been using 'save as' and 'backup' every time I'm finished using it. And I've got multiple copies of the actual saved file and the backup file. So does this mean that if my hard drive got accidentally wiped, would I be able to re-install PVD and use an old backup file to get my collection back with 'restore'?

And if there is a major update for PVD, will that affect my collection? Do I need to restore old backup files when a new version of the program is released?

Last question, will we still be able to use PVD in 10 years from now? Do you think updates will still be being made, or the program will just be complete and free to use forever? I really like it, and I'll probably reach over 700 movies.. which I'm planning on adding to as I grow up. So like I said, I'm paranoid because I don't want to lose all of this. xD Thanks for anyone who can answer all my questions!

This was happening to me, but I fixed it. This is what I did.. go to:

Tools --> Preferences --> Plugins --> Click on IMDB in list of plugins --> click Configure --> Make sure "Download image" box is ticked.

Follow that exactly, might seem a little difficult to understand, but you'll get there. Once you've done it all, click okay, and then add another movie. It'll say 'No movies found' like usual, but it'll get the poster from imdb. Problem solved.

Okay so I've been backing my collection up for ages now, since there isn't really a save button or anything.. and I've got lots of movies. How exactly does one use the backup to restore ones collection, in-case of an emergency? Thanks!

Okay this is probably a really random and minor problem, but when I search for 'The Pink Panther' 2006 movie with Steve Martin in it, the list of movies it comes up with only have the original 1960's Pink Panther's.. and even The Pink Panther 2 (2009) is also listed. EVERY OTHER movie with the name 'Pink Panther' is listed, EXCEPT for the 2006 version. Why?? I've tried searching with the year in the name, with the actor's, but nothing works. It just won't find the 2006 Pink Panther.

Any help, because this has happened before with other movies too? >.<

YES!!! Don't worry, I figured it out. I just moved the new plugin into the plugins folder and replaced old one and restarted PVD.

Will I need to do this every time there is an update in the future?

Okay so I'm new to PVD so forgive me if this is a newb question! I've also already read the forums and I've seen the threads about maintenance issues with IMDB importing.. but they were pretty confusing, and nobody seemed to find a solution. Plus I'm newb remember, so I could barely understand half the stuff being said.

This is my problem. I click "New Movie Master" and type in my title, (example: 'Thor'). I click go, it downloads the poster and information and everything. But when its finished, the only things that show up is the movie poster and a URL link to the IMDB website. None of the imformation gets imported? And yet if I change it to 'get information from 'anothersite-', it works.

I read the other threads, and everyone else appeared to have the same problem, but I couldn't find a solution. It's been months since anyone replied in those threads, so can anyone help me fix this for myself? I downloaded the IMDB plug-in version 0.9.7.5 from the downloads section.. have no idea what to do with it, or if they will even help. So yeah. Complete newb in need of assistance.
