in case the videodb url expires and with it the forum and the only possibility to communicate disappears: let's swap email adresses.

omg, I'm devastated :o
I always admired the amount of effort put into this labour of love, the freeware project pvd.
I'm using it for many, many years now to manage my collection (24k db entries and >5gb btw).
even a little temporary inconvenience in the imdb plugin can ruin the day for me :)
and I always feared the day when it finally comes to an end. :(
I'm sorry that I cant code a single line and I have to give the people who can the sad puppy eyes routine ... pretty please ... anyone?
and is there anything I could do? a donation maybe? :(

hmm, interesting - but I think my problem is slightly different?

it does recognize all the movies separately, but it ignores the "add movie" option and instead does "change filepath" ...

thanks though!

Support / "scan folders" changes path although "add movie" was selected ...

dear pvd support team,

now that the imdb problem seems to be solved (thanks!) allow me to report another problem:

I scanned a folder with new downloads.
for movies already in the database it offered me to "change file path" or "set file path".
I changed all those manually to "add movie".
still it didnt add those - but changed the filepaths of the old entries.
thankfully I made a back up before.

so if you could maybe look into that if you have some time?

it's not urgent to me, I hardly used this function before but cautiously added the movies one by one :)

once again: thanks for the great product and the great support.
I manage my collection of >18k movies with pvd and couldnt live without it.

best,
j

allow me a stupid question ... why does the changed imdb script have the suffix .psf?
it's the one and only pvd file with this ending if Im not mistaked.
did I miss something?

thanks,
j

I have the same problem.

deleted pvdconf.ini - no change
(just a total reset of the settings and the loss of my customized websearches)

complete uninstall und reinstall.
still no change.

imdb script says "no movie found" when searching by title.
works if an imdb link is stored already.

I'm running out of ideas :)

just dropping in another "works for me too, thanks for helping out!".

and leogets: try another of these imdb import scripts in your prefs - the +allmovie or +kinopoisk one aren't the one you're looking for.

hi there,
me again :)

this time a reproducible bug while adding a new movie master:

based on the file name (in this case "hamlet") pvd announces that a similiar entry exists and offers to overwrite it or add a new entry.
I go for new entry.
the imdb plugin says "no movie found". (according to the status line the search string is empty)
then comes the posterimport from impawards which offers me totally random posters. (I guess once again empty search string)
when I go for "skip" no movie is added.
when I choose some random poster I get an error msg.
the "save error" and "send error" windows both look the same - and the only active button is "cancel".
the "show error" shows "title or original title must be set".
I could do a mosaic of screenshots for the other error log tabs if that's of any help.

I experienced that only in .11 yet - and for each instance when a "similiar entry" was found.

any idea?

thanks!

best,
j

Support / Re: help! odd preferences crash :/

hey, it took 14 minutes until you personally solved my problem on a sunday!
that's impressive :)

deleting the colorsection worked, now I can change them too. THANKS!

the last thing I did was ... hmm ... just using it like every day.
but I really suspect my girlfriend did something totally random when she wanted to watch some movie last night.
usually she tries all available programs, clicks on all colorful buttons and presses lots of keys.

so I guess we should just forget it :)

once again - many thanks, nostra!

Support / help! odd preferences crash :/
« on: June 28, 2009, 12:35:13 pm »
hi there,

somehow my pvd settings got f*cked up (I suspect a certain female who still pretends to be innocent) ...

when I started pvd this morning at first I thought the database is corrupt - all movie entries just showed the audio codec. everything else was gone.
as adding 10400 movies took a bit of time (and the last backup was some weeks ago) I suffered a severe heart attack.
I recovered though when I noticed that only the settings has been set back to some "minimal factory default".
the fields werent gone - just the visibility was unchecked.
most other settings were set in a rather minimalist way too.
thank god I could reset them all to their beloved and useful setting.

except the list colors - which were all set to black btw.
no matter how convincingly I set them to everything from pink to mud at the preferences - the list stays black on white. for all entries.
which is a bit ... tiresome ...

so, I'd like to formulate a request: HELP!
someone please help me!
please!

thanks :)
