Support / File scanner confuses videos with similar names...
« on: December 16, 2009, 01:01:22 am »
to begin with, I have the following examples on disk, in the same folder:
sling blade.iso
blade.iso

blades of glory.iso
glory.iso

and so on.

Initially, all these videos are properly tagged with distinct and correct filenames.

However, when I now scan the disk, PVD wants to change the file path of sling blade.iso to blade.iso, blades of glory.iso to glory.iso.

What gives?

Support / Firebird Authentication?
« on: December 11, 2009, 09:30:40 am »
Has anyone tried to run PVD as a client running on another computer than the server?

I'm getting firebird 401 errors which indicates that there is something wrong with the user authentication. Where are username and password for server mode in PVD?

My "use case" is that I've installed the server on an HTPC which runs JRiver Media Center (JRMC). PvdImport is used to connect JRMC to PVD. I'd like to run PVD from client laptops so that the metadata acquirement process is moved away from the HTPC.

Support / moddate not updated when images are added/changed for a movie
« on: December 02, 2009, 01:29:27 pm »
Hi,

in .14, moddate isn't changed when an image is added or changed for a movie record.

I'm interested in a proper update of this field because of my Plugin, PvdImport which imports PVD data into JRiver Media Center.

I've implemented an auto update function which imports metadata into JR MC when records are changed in PVD. Currently, this auto update function doesn't work for images since moddate doesn't seem to be updated when images are added/updated.

Support / Difference between "title" and "origtitle"?
« on: November 27, 2009, 08:45:13 pm »
What exactly is the difference between these fields? I see that they are different for some movies, and that for TVseries, title is #<season>.<episode> whereas origtitle is the name of that particular episode.

I also see that origtitle is missing from quite a few movies even if they were successfully looked up on imdb and allmovie.com

"Tagline" is populated by user review when imdb plugin is used...

Has anyone else seen this behavior? I downloaded the plugin a week ago, approx, and I don't have the version at hand...

Development / Firebird events -- moddate changed?
« on: September 20, 2009, 12:51:52 pm »
Hi Nostra,

do you have any experience using firebird events?

The reason why I'm asking is that an event upon moddate or date added changed would mean that I could use an event handler in PvdImport instead of polling the database regularly.

Check this out, for example...

Support / Title field and multiple files for a movie...
« on: September 16, 2009, 10:06:21 am »
I've been experimenting a bit with importing the PVD Title field to the Name field in JRiver Mediacenter using PvdImport.

If I could get this to work, PVD would then act as a filename parser for MC which would be really great.

However, there is a snag here: When a movie consists of several files; cd1, cd2, etc, I'm having some problems determine which Title (PVD) I should assign to which Name (MC).

Currenly the PVD filename field is just a list of all the files that comprise a movie. Thus I'm looking for a good way of determining and assigning the MC Name field with additional CDx information. Any ideas?

Support / time resolution, dateadded and moddate..
« on: September 13, 2009, 11:44:57 pm »
Nostra,

thanks for your changes wrt. to time resolution. It seems to work quite well!

In JRiver Mediacenter, movies metadata now populates automatically when I import new movies in MC.

Support / Series, season and episode poster/cover art
« on: August 27, 2009, 01:04:16 pm »
I've used thetvdb.com to download descriptions for TV series episodes. It works quite well togetcher with JRMC and PvdImport.

What about cover art for series, season and episodes? I see no separate entry in the .pvd database file for such info...

Feature Suggestions / Folder Monitoring?

I'd like to see an option for automatic folder monitoring in PVD, perhaps combined with Silent Mode.

Support / VIDEO_TS folder ?
« on: August 13, 2009, 11:28:04 am »

There is a problem where PVD doesn't register the .ifo file for a DVD when it is located under [moviename]\VIDEO_TS\[].ifo

In PVD there are some regular expressions that seem to deal with this, yet, this doesn't seem to work...

Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

The following movies are regarded as one movie by scanner:

\\Server\Videos\Spillefilm.dummy\Dr. Dolittle.avi
\\Server\Videos\Spillefilm.dummy\Dr. No.avi
\\Server\Videos\Spillefilm.dummy\E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.avi
\\Server\Videos\Spillefilm.dummy\G.I. Jane.avi
\\Server\Videos\Spillefilm.dummy\L.A. Confidential.avi
\\Server\Videos\Spillefilm.dummy\Mr. Deeds.avi
\\Server\Videos\Spillefilm.dummy\Pi.avi
\\Server\Videos\Spillefilm.dummy\U.S. Marshals.avi

Any way around this?

I'm now in the process of adding several new movies to PVD.

This process is very slow because PVD mixes information gathering with user interaction.

My suggestion is to store ambiguities to be resolved while a large list of movies is processed. Then a dialog is presented where ambiguities are resolved.

After all ambiguities are resolved by the user, PVD uploads/scans info from the net...

(This goes for both movie metadata and posters)

Development / Pvd locks the Firebird database...
« on: April 24, 2009, 10:08:54 am »
Hi,

In my effort to make a plugin for JRiver MediaCenter for PVD import, I have noticed that PVD locks the firebird database (.pvd)

Is it possible to change PVD so that other clients clients can be attached?

I.e. in PVD, disconnect after operations towards the DB are finished... Reconnect when new stuff must be done.

(I noticed that Firebird Maesto also locks the DB...)

Scripts and Templates / Export plugins for J River Media Center
« on: April 02, 2009, 10:03:13 am »
I'm "working on" an export plugin for JRiver mediacenter.

Now, I think I have worked out a way of doing the file selection and metadata import "seamlessly" on the MC side.

Some questions, possibly on the SDK or commandline on the PVD side:
o Is there a way to start a *silent* scan on a single file from within the export plugin framework? I.e. is there a part of the SDK or the command line interface that facilitates this?
o Is it possible to somehow get the scan results programmatically so that the scan results can be resolved programmatically?

Thanks.

Scripts and Templates / Export template for J River Media Center
« on: March 25, 2009, 05:30:36 pm »
I don't know if anyone here uses J River Media Center (http://www.jrmediacenter.com/), but here is an export template that will output to an MPL file. MPL is the main database format that Media Center (MC) uses. MC is great as an organisational/playback/home theatre setup, but lacks online metadata lookup for movies, so this is where PVD comes in for me Smiley

First of all, set up the export template in PVD-
go to tools > preferences > plugins > plain text/export > add > (call it what you want) > and then copy and pase the following:
[...]

When exporting using this method, each movie record results in one exported record. When a movie/record contains multiple files, the filename is comprised of pipe "|" separated filenames.

Is there a way using export templates to ouptput multiple export records where each record represents only one file?

The reason why I'm asking, is that on the J. River MC side, the MPL file is imported incorrectly for movies with multiple files.
