Feature Suggestions / Separate TV / Movie profile

Hi Nostra,

Would it be possible to have separate TV/Movie profile for importing?
Something like:
select "TV" profile" - would tell PVD you are importing TV show information and could be configured to import using your desired TV setup.
select "Movie" profile" - would tell PVD you are importing movie information and could be configured to import using your desired Movie setup.
This could allow TV series to be more easily managed and/or Movie-TV information to be stored in separate tables.

Feature Suggestions / File scanner - Change path

Hi Nostra,

Would it be possible to display previous path when file scanner detects a "change path"
This would help when deciding whether to change path or not.

A hover "tooltip" type solution would be fine.

Feature Suggestions / Add timer function when multiple results returned.

Hi Nostra,

Would it be possible to add a timer (configurable) when multiple results from IMDB (or other search engines).
It would go far to automate the process.
If naming standards are followed  ie. Movie name (year) it is usually the first movie in the list. Automatically selecting this after 5 seconds  would give users an opportunity to select a different movie if incorrect.

This would be similar to how Thumbgen operates. http://thumbgen.org/.

Feature Suggestions / Add Poster Count to advanced search

Hi Nostra,

Would it be possible to have a "Poster Count" to the advanced search. This is to find records that have multiple posters downloaded.
eg Poster count > 1 (or any no you wish).

Currently available is Poster "IS NULL" or "IS NOT NULL"

Feature Suggestions / Reviving the Wiki

As I have already said, I have had great success running a wiki in my work environment.
It is designed more as a web page with editable content.

I have thrown together a rough version usinging tikiwiki. (by no means professional but gives an indication of how it could work)

As nostra is administrator of wiki and PVD is his baby, i'll leave the decision up to him whether a wiki redesign is ok.

Feature Suggestions / File Scanner Improvements II

Hi,

When scanning movies in from Hard drive, the "media label" is automatically populated with the volume of the hard drive.
I want to use the volume label as a reference to which hard drive a movie is on.
eg. avatar is on hard drive with volume label - movie001, the matrix is on hard drive with volume label - movie002 etc.

Would it be possible to have "scan folders for new movies/changed paths", also update the "Media Label" field with the Volume as part of the change path scan?

Support / Bug: Date added.

Hi,
There seems to be a minor bug/undocumented feature (maybe 2) with filtering movies.

When I filter on date added = today, I get a list of movies I have added today (all good).
bug1:
When I select filters/reset filters from the menu - Nothing happens. I would expect the default behavior would reset filter list to show all.

bug2:
When i hit "date added" button and select "Title+Original Title +AKA" (with the original search string of "todays date" in the search panel)
I get an error box popup with "Conversion error from string ".45" Overflow occurred during data type conversion. Error code 14."

NB: .45 is the first movie in my database.
If I clear the search string of today's date = all good.

Support / [SOLVED] Strange behaviour unselecting multiple movies

Hi All,
I have noticed odd behavior when selecting and deselecting movies from movie list pane.

I am trying to go through my list and change the status of "Seen" to "Not-Seen"
I can "Control Select" movies to highlight different movies.
If I highlight a wrong movie, "Control Select(that movie again)" does not deselect it until I click on a different movie.
"Control Select(that movie again)" should deselect it

NB: The Deselection of the movie does not occur until I click on a different movie.
NB: "Shift Select" / "Shift Deselect" obeys standard windows controls.

Feature Suggestions / Optimise Database

Hi all,
I recently optimised my database it said working...done etc.
At the end of the process a message saying complete and 9 movies had been deleted.
Is it possible to get a log file of what actions happened to the database at the end of the process??

It would be great to review and fix any inadvertent changes after the optimise process.

Support / [SOLVED] Wierd behaviour in all movie script.

I am importing data using IMDB +ALL Movie Script.
Some imports from All Movie have strange behaviour.

eg
When searching All Movies.
Search panel shows Movie to be searched as:
"Last Hitman, The (2004)
The folder on My Hard drive is "The Last Hitman (2008)"
The correct entry from All Movie is "The Last Hit man (2007)"

Not sure if the script is not picking up folder name correctly and passing incorrect value to allmovie or script gets confused if there is no match??

In PVD, I have the custom section done custom field Movie Categories and manually confirmed one of the categories of films that I have an external disk.
Arrangements may also be in the File Information.

Small feature request (maybe)  ;)
Would it be possible to import (merge) two pvd databases? (and possible export)

Now the price of Harddrives is comparable to DVDs - I have decided to store my collection on Hard drive.
I am still deciding how I am going to store it.

eg Drives per Genre, All movies in one directory, subdirectories per Genere etc etc.
( I am interested in knowing how others store their media on Hard drives and how they then catalog them in PVD).

I would be creating separate databases to test functionality. I would like to be able to import best version into my main database at the end.

The ability to import a database would also be useful for adding new collections.
eg have 50 or so movies, import into a new database, fix anything that needs fixing and when happy with results merge into exisiting database.

Hi Nostra,

Would it be feasible to have an inline help function / help hover function.
Something like a "?" that when selected provides a hover help function for different parts of PVD.
This could / should be populated with info from users (so you dont have to do it)  ;)
Perhaps it could reference a text / xml file for info that could be user populated.

This would go some way to providing a help system.

What are everyone's favourite websites /tools for TV/ Movie stuff.
 8) -PVD excluded of course as that is NO 1. -  8) 

The main two i use (nearly daily) are

XBMC running on xbox1
notepad++
DaFT - Database Fishing Tool
DVD Remake - awesome for changing menus etc.
DVD Rebuilder with CCE - Best tool available for shrinking.
IMGBurn for  burning.

Hi,

I'm assuming that tag provides the little + symbol to expand and shrink lists.
      <human category="0"/>

is this correct? what does the category="0" bit do?
what happens if i change it to a 1 (i did this and could not see any difference)

Nostra would you be willing to change pvd_classic skin to have "aka" section use this.
I have movies where they have been translated into many countries and the aka list pushes the other entries
down. having aka list shrunk would be nice option.

Hi Nostra,

Can you please tell me what the id range is.

i am trying to convince a friend to convert from movie collector to pvd ( a noble cause indeed ) :)
he has over 3000 disks and uses the id no to catalogue them.

eg 1-1000 is tv shows 5000-10000 is movies
His numbering system goes up to 10,000

I imported all his movies and posters, but

When i imported the id No, i noticed that it imported 4 digits.
is this the limit to the no of entries ie. 9999 ?

Hi,

i have just imported 20 odd movies.
most weren't found (i didn't import year)

i removed silent mode option and ran again.
PVD prompts me to select movie, it then downloads info and moves to next one in the list.

To speed things up so i can go and watch tv instead of checking boxes and waiting for info to dl, :(
could the scripts be changed so it buffers your choices and then downloads all the other info in the background.

eg.
* you have 20 movies in the list where you need to select which is the right one.
* pvd goes off and then presents a dialogue box to choose the movie.
- Now instead of downloading all the info about the movie, it buffers your answer and moves onto the next movie for you to select.

When PVD reaches the end of the list it can go off an download all the other stuff (pictures etc etc) and i can go off and watch tv  ;D
This would be a huge time saver.

You would have 5-10 mins of selecting which are the right movies instead of 30 mins waiting for d/ls to complete.

i know this is a big ask ;D but would it be possible to add some scripting support to templates.
i would be great to have some basic script functions available like.
" if " statement
" else " statement

this would be great to automate functions in scripts.
like:

Scripts and Templates / Exporting credits

i have a couple more things i need to figure out and need help. pls ....

What I am trying to achieve is

From what ive read, grouptemplate would be best option to achieve this, but i don't understand how it works.
i've been trying to find an example without success.
NB i can't even get {%value=credits} from main.ptm to return data.

Can someone pls pls provide an example of grouptemplate i can use and how "credits" works.

Under tools/plugins/IMDB - Configure button. There is custom field for top 250 rank:
What is this? How does it work? - i would like to export top250 value as well, if possible pls.

Also when exporting. plugin seems to put linefeeds in. Is there a way so this doesn't happen??
