Support / Re: Assigning file path to episode.

Rick, thanks for reminding me of my earlier post. When you reach 70 yrs., the memory sometimes fails.
I have tried several regex scripts, but unfortunately, none of them worked. Maybe sometime this  winter, when things slow down, I will revisit regex.

Thanks

Support / Using File Scanner to find new file paths
« on: November 02, 2011, 03:41:53 am »
I posted this question in another thread and got no rsponse, so I am reposting to a new thread.

My problem is that I have forgotten how to associate file paths to episodes. After several hours of trying different options and combinations I give up.I have imported the TV series, season, episode and metedata by using the New Movie Master option. Then I used the Tools\Scan Folders option to add the file paths to each of the episode. Herein. lies my problem. After I select the proper series folder and press the Process button, nothing seems to happen.  No file paths appear anywhere that I can find. I have also tried repeating this by starting at the seasons folder, and then at the episode folder, with the same results. The only way I can associate a file path with an episode is to use the Edit option for each episode, and to do it manually.

I have used this "manual" method for most of my TV collection, and it has been very time consuming. At one point, I seem to recall figuring this process out. But, that was some time ago, and now nothing makes sense to me. I thought I did a scan at the series folder level, and then used  the Movies\Organize Files by Episode option to associate the file path with its epispde. I cannot get this sequence to work so I must have remembered wrong.

If I find a solution for this I am going to write it up and keep it posted in several places at my desk.

Can anyone help me with this?

Over the years, I have never been able to batch assign the file path to a TV episode, other than manually. Well, I have renamed all my files, and now I am facing this task once again and I don't want to do it "one file at a time" . I have searched the forum and have found some references for doing this, but still have had no luck. I can import the series with no problems.

Is there someone who can walk me through this? My current file naming convention is as follows: http:\\Television\ Series Name\Season 1\s01e01-File name.mpeg

Thanks

Success!

First, let me say I could never get the screenshot maker to work and this may have been part of my problem. Since I used an external player with its own screenshot maker I did not pursue the issue any farther. If I remember correctly the log indicated something like, unable to connect, or something like that. I thought it was probably a file association problem and gave it no further thought.

Anyway, here is what I did to get the image to appear, even though it was a strange solution.

I could not find the "screenshot box" Zacca was describing.  It was unfamiliar to me as I had never seen this before. I tried various things unsuccessfully. My shotgun approach to finding a solution was not working.

While taking a shower it occured to me that maybe the screenshot extension was something other than a jpg. So, after drying off and dressing,  I changed the extension to .png and imported the file into the poster box, because that was the only box available. When I did this I noticed the fields moving down the screen, leaving a large blank space at the top. While scrolling through this vast wasteland I saw another box which, as it turns out, was the screenshot box. I moved my cursor to this box and successfully imported a jpg file.

I'm not even going to try figure out how this might happened, but it does work and now I can get on to getting ready for Thanksgiving.

Thanks Rick and Zacca for your assistance

Thanks Rick.ca. After the last post I looked at the xml file and saw that I needed a screenshot image. My question at this point is how do I convert a jpeg image into a screenshot. I have explored many options but to no avail. It may not be possible, but this is what I thought Zacca said he did. Any clues would be much appreciated

Zacca, Let me ask one more time.

After I double click the movie title nothing changes except that it puts me in edit mode. I' not sure what you mean by movie icon, but the movie artwork remains in the top right-hand corner. When I move the cursor to this area five icons appear: Use as default; Load image from file; Get poster from Amazon; Acquire from scanner; Save image to file; and Remove image. Are these the icons to which you are referring? There is nothing here dealing with screenshot maker. The only place I find this is by clicking Movies on the menu bar. When I open screenshot maker there is nothing I can do accept capture an image if a video is playing.

Anyway, all this disucssion may be getting off topic, for all I am asking is why does not a larger image appear above the movie title in the downloaded file as it shows in you post?

I have included two attachments showing the before and after screens of  a double click of the movie title. I don't know if this helps or not.
I tried pasting the  images directly but had no luck
Thanks for you patience

Zacca, thanks for the reply. However, I am still having difficulity. What I saw at the bottom of the screen, after following your instructions, were two boxes: a front cover box and a rear cover box. I loaded jpeg images into these two boxes but nothing happens at the top of the screen. I still have the movie title box at the top with the dvd cover art it the top right hand corner. The two other images remained at the bottom of the screen. Do I need to edit the xml file to place the artwork at the top center as it appears in your orginial post or is there a setting I have not set properly?

I v take the fanart from themoviedb.org and i v loaded it on the screenshot.

I downloaded the Zfanart Skin but can not get my cover art pictures to display as shown in the post. A single picture appears in the upper right-hand corner of the skin. I have the fan art but can not figure out how Zacca "loaded it on the screenshot."

How is this done?

« on: June 10, 2009, 10:13:54 pm »
Thanks for the help guys. I got it working. You're responses got me looking a little deeper and this is what I found.

I ran the debug script as rick.ca suggested and, as I was looking through it, I noticed that ver. 0.9.9.9 was installed. I had downloaded the latest version and thought that is what I was running. I guess I re-installed ver. 0.9.9.9 on top of itself. Anyway, I installed the current version and now it is working properly.

I think those Birth and Date fields which were correctly populated was done before the install,
so probably the re-instalation of the same version corroupted something. It is strange, however,
that only those two fields were rejecting the contect, even when I tried to enter it manualy in edit mode.

I realize you two have a lot more important things to do as you work towards your goal of improving the best
program of its type "out there," but I do appreciate you efforts.

This is a great community.  ;D

Support / Birth and Death dates not being imported
« on: June 10, 2009, 04:18:04 pm »
I can't seem to import dates for the Birth and Death fields. From a list of abot 100 peole I found only three records containing this informatin. And all of these were at the top of the list. Evidently, this is where this part of the import stopped working.

I tried entering the dates from the keyboard, but they will not stick. I have checked the configuration for this plugin and it has not changed. All the boxes are shaded. I even tried checking these boxes. I also copied this plugin from an eariler version to the plugin directory, thinking the file may have been corrupted, but this did not work.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Thanks, Rick.ca!

I saw this but was somewhat concerned by the warning message. Not knowing all the ramifications of a action taken, I left that alone and proceeded to drive myself insane. I could see that following this proceedure for every actor I wanted to add was not not my idea of having fun, so I thought I better ask for help before arriving at this destination of insanity.  :)

I have started to add people to the database but have run into a problem.

My proceedure has been to click on a movie title and select a actor from the "Movie Information" page. This action switches to the "People Information" page at which time the name shows up in the list on the left. I then select the name and import the information.

The problem is that this process deletes the actor from the list on the "Movie Information" page. I have to re-import the movie information again to add the actor back to the list.

I'm pretty sure I am not doing this right and would like some instruction. My search turned up nothing useful.

Thanks

Thanks Rick. I spent 45 minutes looking for that updated script. I looked several times through the first post,. as well as reading and re-reading the other post. I did not see it even after you told me where to look. I was about to ask for specific directions when a speck on my screen csught attention. That got me close enough to a light blue hyperlink, and whala, there it was. I have poor vision, but I live and learn.

Thanks, it works great. no more error code.

Clicking Import on the menu bar shows an item called, "Get covers from AllCD Covers.com" so I thought this might be an easy way to import meta data into JRMC. Thanks for the reply.

By the way, Humphrey Bogart is one of my favorite old time movie actors. I have nearly all of his movies.
