Support / Re: Episodes TV Series Problem
« on: May 11, 2020, 12:25:04 am »
I want to try the fix but I don't remember how to update the script.  It has been several years since I had to do it.  What files do I search for on my computer?

Got it!  Many thanks for the help, Ivek.

Support / How to manually add a hyperlink to the comments field?
« on: April 25, 2020, 03:34:12 am »
Easy question:

How do I manually code the text in the PVD comments field to add a hyperlink to my comments?  I have tried html and bbcode methods but neither of those work.

I had a similar problem with movie titles.  Go to this thread:

also i couldn't group them into a [movies ] group and a [series ] group

Just create two separate databases, one for movies and another for series.

Thanks, Ivek.  I got the scripts to work for "Arthur of the Britons" with two seasons of 12 episodes each.

I haven't updated scripts manually in a long time.  It did take me a while to figure out where to put the scripts. Once I located the correct PVD folder all went well.  I ran IMDB Movie (episodelist) (a) script first and then IMDB Movie (episodelist) script.  I'm running PVD 1.0.2.7.

Many thanks for the tip, CAD.  It works just fine for me in one of the custom fields I created.

Here's another vote of thanks.  I've been using PVD for over four years.  I maintain two separate databases, one for movies and another for TV series.  I really like the ability to add several posters to each movie title.  I try to find at least three for each movie and some have over forty.  Best of all is the active support forum.  All the problems I've encountered have been quickly solved by either administration or fellow users.

First titles added 14 Feb 2011

Movie database: 871 titles @ 609 MB
TV database: 264 series @ 324 MB

This time she walked across the keyboard and deleted about 100 titles.  Yikes! :o and there isn't an undo function.  Fortunately I had copied and backed up my PVD file about 3 days ago so I was able to recover things with just a few changes lost.

The point of this post is to highlight the importance of backing up your PVD files.  Keep a recent copy available to recover from catastrophes or, in my case, CAT-astrophes.  It only takes a few minutes and some day you'll be glad you made the effort.

That did the trick.  That feature is pretty well hidden, I never would have found it without your help.  Thanks very much!

EDIT: As a bonus, I see that I am also allowed to search the custom fields that I have created.  Very useful.

How do I access advanced filtering?

The option is under "Filters".

PVD 1.0.2.7 on Windows 8.

I want to display a list of my movie titles that have screenshots assigned to them. (I currently have only 10 titles with screenshots).

The avialable filters only allow searching for titles without screenshots.  Filtering on "No screenshots" plus "Not visible" doesn't do the job - it just shows zero titles.

See screen captures below:

My cat walked across the keyboard and triggered something to highlight half my titles list in yellow.  I can't figure out how to turn off the yellow highlight.  I'm running PVD 1.0.2.7

As I said, it all depends on the length of the series and your connection speed.

Try experimenting with Garrow's Law which has three seasons with only four episodes/season.

I don't know why you're not getting the series info.  I also have version 09.8.14.  Here are some screenshots of how the procedure works for me.  Hope it helps.

Read through this thread - especially Reply #17 by UtNut.  Maybe that will help.  Good luck.

Nice detective work.  I had the image option turned off since I prefer to search for my own images to display.  I usually don't want an image for individual episodes either.

I agree.  This is a great piece of software with plenty of flexibility.

That's odd, I'm using the same plugin 9.8.11 with version 0.9.9.21 and whatever I do - all episodes in one season or one individual season at the time - I still get the dreaded 404 not found message. Anything else you think I should be looking at?

I just checked and that matches the version and plug-in that I am running.  I'm downloading episode info right now too.

Maybe delete the plug-in and reinstall it?

----------------------------

It has been a long time since I've fiddled with PVD settings.  I see there is an option to disable the need for user intervention.  I think I'll leave it alone so I can still manually control any errant episodes.
