Changelogs / Re: 1.0.2.5 Release Candidate

And another thing... In version 0.9.9.x the file import provided quite a lot of details for the audio and video streams. Something like "XviD" or "DivX3" or, for Audio, "MPEG-1 Audio layer 3". With version 1.0.2.5 it only says "MPEG-4 Visual" instead of "XviD", "DivX3 Low" and alikes and "MPEG Audio" instead of "MPEG-1 Audio layer 3" or "MPEG-1 Audio layer 2", ect. Is that on purpose?

A bug, I guess... But some very minor thing: The tool tip for the folder symbol next to "File Path:" says "Always show". That doesn't make sense to me. ???

Bug report... two cosmetic ones:

- while in full screen or in a big window with "Import" in toolbar near the right side of the window: if you click the button "Set overwrite options for selected plug-in" a menu pops up where buttons (on the right of the menu) are not visible.

- when you switch between people und movie view the window title (of the PVD window itself) should change from "Movies" to "People" and vice vera. Most of the time it does not do so, sometimes it shows both mixed up/overlayed. It only changes/refreshes when you resize the window or give focus to another program.

Solved this one. It didn't happen in 1.0.2.3. The classic skin from download page seems to be outdated. It differs from the one that came with 1.0.2.3. I switched to the one from the beta version and it looks fine, now.

Other things...

- don't know if I do anything wrong, but no matter which export plugin I set to default: after restart PVD always switches to "Export to Mediaportal" (in export drop down list) while the "Execute default export plugin"-button stays with "Export to plain text".

- if I widen the movie list on the left of the window a little bit (by dragging the right border further to the right), after restart of PVD the "Also known as" field disappears completely or is very, very narrow. Only happens in full screen. When windowed, after restart the field is there again (or in full screen if the right border of the movie list was moved back to the left prior to restart). It only happens while looking at movies on top of the list. When restartet with a movie further down near the bottom of the list, everything seems ok. Same behaviour in 1.0.2.3. In 0.9.9.21 it's better: it only happens if the border is moved to the far right (which is not possible in 1.0.2.x) before restart. Only "Also known as" is affected, no matter how far I pull the border. It is difficult to reproduce with less than 1600 movie entries in 1.0.2.x and with less than 500 in PVD 0.9.9.21. My screen resolution is 1280 in width, maybe that matters.

No, I didn't change the skin. But I found out that the images look well when resized by PVD (in a small window, for example). Transparency only happens if the image is shown in its full dimensions. It's also visible after double click in "full picture view".

But now for real! ;) A bug...
Some movie posters get partially transparent. Seems to happen when blocks within a JPG are absolutely flat in colour. See first attachment. Here, the flat black areas are affected. It's a normal jpg without any transparency added. When saved the image seems to be fine (see second attachment).

I had the same problem with a fresh installation of PVD 0.9.9.21 from the download page, now. Didn't get rid of it until I switched to version 1.0.2.x ???

By the way, I modified my export plugins to work with version 1.0.2.5 (RC). In previous versions link type ID pointed to the (hidden/internal) "Database Rocord ID" (aka MID). Now link type "ID" points to "Movie ID" (that is the one you can see and edit in PVD). Because the export plugins (including those that come with the 1.0.2.5 (RC) installation package) still resembled the old behaviour, ID links were broken when exported.

I fixed that. New files are attached...

If you want to create ID links that, again, behave as they used to in versions 0.9.x.x: use <link mid=... instead of <link id=... in PVD.

Thanks a lot! Works fine with the skin from the download page.
I adapted the "HTML Frames" and "HTML List" export templates to PVD version 1.0.2.5, now.

Hi Nostra, first of all, thanks, and a very personal thanks for supporting the hidden MID within links, now. :)

Somehow things looked strange after installing over the old version ("Also known as" disappeared, for example). That surely was due to some strange settings or modifications to the skin of mine. So if someone experiences such things: I uninstalled the old version with all settings completely (after backing up all modified templates, skins and the database, of course) and did a fresh install. It looks fine, now.

But there is a bug (that was not present in 1.0.2.3): "Audio Codec" and "Languages" are eliminated from the stream information and those fields now appear next to "Last modified". These fields are empty, but provide a drop-down list. If you edit a movie entry both fields disappear afterwards from the main window and language and codec information vanish completely. See image attached...

Scripts and Templates / Re: Show database on Android
« on: January 15, 2013, 03:30:43 pm »
Welcome back, Zacca.

I don't have a smart phone, but I'm curious...Would an alternative be to use one svenne's templates to export HTML files, and then view these using the phone's browser? Or would they need to be modified for a hand held screen? And if that were possible, would there be advantages to doing it that way (e.g., easy access from browser, modifications, etc.)?

Yes, it is possible, but the only browser that can handle the "HTML Frames"-template is Firefox for Android, as far as i know. That might change in near future with further development of the other browsers. The problem is, that the other browsers don't provide vertical scrolling for the movie list.

No, I can't. I don't have Windows 8...
Maybe someone else out there could try and see if it is reproducible?
Don't know which PVD-Verion arj0n works with.

Support / Bug Report: Windows 8 and export templates...
« on: December 03, 2012, 08:20:24 pm »
Hi nostra!

The following template option seems to be broken in Windows 8...  :o

%fname% - selected target filename (without extension)

It was reported in the "Export template: HTML"-Thread. See details here:
http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php/topic,1844.msg16081.html#msg16081

Best regards,
svenne

%fname% should be the filename you chose in the "Save as..."-dialog. With Win8Pro something seems to go wrong. The filename seems not to be handed over to the export script. In your case "%fname%" should have been replaced with "PVDExport". You could rename the directory "%fname%_files" to "PVDExport_files" by hand. Also, you would have to rename every occurrence of "%fname%_files" (or maybe "_files") in PVDExport.html and within every movie*.html in the (renamed) directory "PVDExport_files"...

Perhaps the behaviour changes if you export to another location (desktop, C:\, USB-Stick, ect.)?

Nonetheless, this seems to be a bug of Personal Video Database in combination with Windows 8.
Maybe nostra can do something...

Development / Re: Writing Export Plugin
« on: November 22, 2012, 12:14:16 pm »
Ok, I don't think it's possible either, because you're in need of binary and hexadecimal encoding, am I right?
Well, you could export all data needed in text format and process that with another programm/an executable you wrote in Delphi...
A "real" plugin doing the job in one step would be nicer, of course.

Hi!

Are you looking for this (export templates)?...
http://www.videodb.info/help/hlp_export.html

If you want to write a c++ plugin... for export I did not find any examples or information here myself. Would be nice if someone had suggestions, of course. But you can do quite a lot with templates.

Hi Stefan!
If there is anything going wrong with the sort function, please let me know. I will try to fix it. Perhaps I already did... when did you download the template and modified it? For the CMS search it might be better to use the "HTML Frames" template. Movie details would be on a separate file for every movie.

37
Really not bad! Neat way to share a nice hobby...

This might be interesting for changing the collation on existing databases. The command came with Firebird 2.5... don't know the details, but it might be helpful when you are going to tackle this issue.
http://www.firebirdsql.org/refdocs/langrefupd25-ddl-charset.html
I was unsure but just decided to post it. However, I don't want to be pushy on this topic... well, maybe a little bit ;D
Well, kidding aside, don't feel pushed.

I couldn't get the 'dotty method' to work.
Hmmm, it should work. I use that myself. ??? (So if you or anyone else wants to customise the templates that way someday, I could try to assist.)

Update for HTML Frames:

- bugfix: with 25 or less exported entries it was impossible to reset filters

- added backlink to start page (where the legend for the colored dots can be found)

- optimised display behaviour of backlinks; and a bugfix, too... the backlink to the tag cloud vanished after reload

...aren't likely to remember what the dots mean
If you hover the mouse pointer over the dots a label tells what it is.

...you might want to add a green dot for bookmarked items
Bookmarking and setting the filter "bookmarked" in PVD is the best and easiest way to export a custom selection of movies. But in that case I won't like to have dots in front of all entries... :(

But if you want to have an additional green dot for bookmarks just add the following code directly after %HEAD% <li> in "HTML Frames.ptm"
Code: [Select]
{#StringReplace '{#StringReplace '{%value=bookmark}' '0' ''}' '-1' '<span style="color:#66FF66;font-weight:bold;" title="bookmarked!">&bull;&nbsp;</span>'}
In PVD you my also add a custom item with type "checkbox". If you called it "DOTTY" you would add the following code to "HTML Frames.ptm" to get a dot for that...
Code: [Select]
{#StringReplace '{#StringReplace '{%value=DOTTY custom="true"}' '0' ''}' '-1' '<span style="color:#66FF66;font-weight:bold;" title="DOTTY!">&bull;&nbsp;</span>'}I'm quite sure you don't want to call it "DOTTY"...  :)
Call it as you like and replace the two occurances of DOTTY within the code snippet with the name you chose.

...maybe get user input for the bookmark caption
For export templates all interaction possible with the user is the "Save as" dialog. Or am I wrong?
