Support / Re: How to correct paths of movies?
« on: December 25, 2013, 03:26:20 pm »
Have you selected new paths for scanning?

Yes. It finds all other new files without problem. It seems to be the problem, that the old Y: is not accessible anymore.

I tried to edit manually and select the correct path. It lets me select it, but does not save it.
Thats strange. Maybe it adds the new path instead of switching. Try clearing the file path edit field and select the correct files again.

Yes, that worked (edit -> delete old entry, add new one). Thx :)

But I do not want to do that for about 100 files (mostly tv series)...:(

Support / How to correct paths of movies?
« on: December 25, 2013, 02:14:43 pm »
I have moved some movies and tv series and split and moved them to two new paths (from y:\ to v:\ and w:\)

How can I tell PVD what happened?
I tried to use the tool that finds movies. It ignores everything that was on Y: and does not find it in the new locations.
I tried to edit manually and select the correct path. It lets me select it, but does not save it.

Support / Re: Failed to open database, Error Code 3
« on: December 25, 2013, 11:51:29 am »
I have a similiar problem. I use 1.0.2.7

I made several backups with the same version over the last two days to try some things.
Today I wanted to revert to the old DB. It tells me, it is not valid. I tried with any of the backups, none worked.
I also deleted the pvdconfig, does not help.

Only a new database can be opened again.

Please help me, dozens of hours of work are in this DB....

Support / How to rename files/folder according to database?
« on: December 22, 2013, 09:17:56 pm »
This post http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php?topic=3051.0 mentions it is possible to ename files/folder according to database. But how is this done?

Thank your for your help :)

PS: What I ultimately want to do is use a nice GUI for selecting movies (like XBMC) parallel to PVD. But XBMC is quite strict with file names....

Support / Re: How to import series
« on: March 10, 2013, 10:03:56 pm »
Just an example: Episode import is enabled in the IMDB Plugin.

When I manually search I have no problem: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0430484/episodes

But nothing is found when i try to import. I also renamed the main title and every episode to the one found on IMDB, still nothing is found :(

Support / How to import series
« on: March 10, 2013, 09:29:08 pm »
I just don't get it how to import series, seasons and episodes. Do they have to be in a special format (naming)?

Whenever I import them some (or none) of the episodes are recognized, never a name of an episode and when I search for new/changed files I find the same again and again until I ignore them :(

I tried the help with no matches and I found some posts that I simply did not understand :(

Support / How to merge duplicates?
« on: March 10, 2013, 09:26:41 pm »
I do not know why, but some (always the same) movies are found over and over when I scan for new/changed movies.
When I add them I have two entries and find no possibility to merge them. How can I do that, so that
1. only one entry is there, with merged data
2. PVD will not find the movie again and again?

Yes, I can ignore them, but there has to be reason it's found again and again...

By the way: it's always added under a new name, like the Movie "Bal" (Honey). One time it's "Bal" and one time it's "Honey"

If using a portable version, it does not mean that nothing is stored in the registry.
If you have PVD start with viddb.exe, these data are linked to pvdconfig.ini, which is for example in the following folder:
C: \ Documents and Settings \ Administrator \ Application Data \ Personal Video Database (Administrator - in my case is called so, this folder can also be called otherwise).

I am complete lost now.
There is no pvdconfig.ini in any of my profile folders (windows 7) and not in the local installation folder. Still the application did know where my DB is after deleting the install folder and reinstall.

And why on earth would a portable version of an application store anything on the computer? The complete mean of a portable version is to have it portable and do not depend on anything being stored in any other location than in the intall dir.

:(

Did you start it with the portable.bat file provided, or by other means use the -portable command line switch? If so, it should have created a new pvdconfig.ini and empty database in the installation folder.

There is no portable.bat after installation...?

The bug report did tell me it was the same error like on starting (faulty plugin/skin). Reinstalling the whole aplication did solve it.

Finally it works again :)

Unzipping over the previous folder did not work. I had to delete the whole folder and then install new. What I do not get: it found the database wihtout asking me. The database resides outside of the application folder. How is this possible? Since I use the portable version there should not be an ini file or something in the registry stored!?

Support / "scan folders for new movie/changed path" not working correctly
« on: January 22, 2012, 10:04:03 pm »
When I use tools -> scan folders for new movie/changed always 2 series and one movie are coming up that should not come up (additional to real new movies).

The two series I have ignored but the application ignores my ignore.

The movie shows always as "change file path". Regardless if I let it search for the new path or not. So I ignored this movie too and it does not sho up anymore,

If there are no new movies after a search the application just show no new movies. I there arem the two series will show up again...and again...and again :(
