Support / Re: How to overwrite date added when importing from Csv
« on: July 19, 2010, 02:17:30 pm »
Hi Rick and all,

I have now successfully created a new database file :) .
The movies ID's are the same than in the original corrupted database.

The list of posters that I had generated from the corrupted database contains the name of the movie and the Internal ID.
This internal movie ID is NOT the same in the new database, even after re-indexing.
So imgid is unable to add the posters to my new file.
I need to rename the image files in order to get them into my new database.

From Buah's post http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php?topic=1734.0 it looks like he is using the ID (and not the internal ID), so I am unsure about what ID I  should use when I rename the image files. Would you know?

My main question however is HOW do I rename the files, I am completely useless when it comes to batch files and scripting, can you help me with detailed information?
I am attaching two text files. The first gives you the list of movies with ID's and Internal ID's. The second gives you a list of the image files generated from the folder they are in.
There are sometimes images that belong to the same film.
What is the best way of doing this?

I am so glad I am moving away from using a corrupted database file, but I need these posters so bad, I had invested too much time in finding them!

Yes I have since switched to using excel import and it's much better.

I will have to modify the template later, I have also read the instructions you pointed me to, I had selected them before, just so you know that I searched the forum before posting!

The problem here that I am having is that the images generated do not contain the Movie ID but another number that I cannot find anywhere in the database.

By the way, to export I am not using the csv export plugin because it does not export the movie ID, so i use the xml export.
I then convert the xml into a csv file.
I will try to include the string you gave me into the xml export.

The problem with the dates occurs even when the dates did not have a time.
It is basically pushed to the next field, so my File Path ends up being the old date added...

« on: July 11, 2010, 07:10:15 pm »
No they were not, I did not know that, now I do not get the error message anymore thx.

The problem now however is that it does not seem to match any poster to the entries.

I have exported the ID from my old database so they should match the ID's in the image folder, right?
Unless the ID's have changed during the re-import into my new database? Where can I find the ID of a movie in the database?

NOTE: The image files are named as follow:  MOVIE NAME_ID.jpg

Support / [SOLVED] Fbembed error when using IMGbyID
« on: July 11, 2010, 06:15:10 pm »
I have a fresh install of PVD (removed settings).
I am trying to attach posters to a newly create database using IMGID and after pressing "process images" I get the error message "can't load library fbembed.dll"

Nostra you might think this is related to the problem I was trying to solve recently but I am on a different computer with new install of PVD and a new database file (hence not corrupted and that opens with no tweaking needed)

Note: I tried installing firebird and have the services running, I still get the error message...

 Thanks

 Hi again,
I am creating a new database by CSV importing from an existing database.
The date added that appear in the new entries are not the ones I can find in my CSV file, would you know how to make sure that date added field is taking the value found in the csv file?

Also, I have been using the comma delimiter since the file I use is a csv, but there are commas in descriptions, actors, etc. so the import tool will take these as delimiters. Would you know how to get around that?
I have changed the settings in XP to use the ";" instead of the comma, but I guess that's a bit far fetched no?
 Any better solution would help.

Thank you all.

The error was due to a long filename, PVD could not create it.

Good to know that posters that are not saved in this process are lost though!

« on: July 11, 2010, 02:26:47 pm »
Hi all, because my corrupted database file cannot be fixed  :'( I am working on an export/import process, in order to create a new clean database file.
The first step for this is to have all my posters in a separate file, in order to later re-attach them to my database entries. I have read a few posts on this and I am hoping that I will be successful.
The first problem I meet is when I save posters to a different folder.
I have at the moment 5400 posters to be saved.
So I go to Folders and selected a folder for images, and then untick the box "save images in database file", then click on OK, the program starts working on saving the posters.
It will then give me an error message (I attached the bug report below).

If I look at the posters folder, I can find there 2190 posters only, and not 5400, so the process has been stop by the error.
By the way, the missing posters are then lost, they do not appear in the database file, and they are not in the posters folder.
 Thank God for inventing backups...

Would you help me understand and fix the error met in the process please?

 Thanks

Scripts and Templates / Rotten Tomatoes ratings
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:03:18 pm »

 Hi all,

I know a Rotten Tomatoes scraper was already requested and I don't think one has been produced yet.
What I am wondering is if anyone who has magic programing fingers would be able to create a simple short script that would ONLY scrape the RottenTomates Ratings.
I find that these ratings reflects much better what I feel than any other.
Allmovie ratings are good also but really what works better for me are the RT ratings.

So ideally I would love to have a script that would add the RT ratings into a Rotten Tomatoes Rating custom field.
I know this is one of many requests so I do not expect this to be done soon (if ever) but just in case it is easy to build... ;)

Thanks!

153

This works great thank you  :D

154

Yes but so far I have already added the Allmovie ratings with the other script (original one) so if I add it with your script I will double the info.
I have tried to paste the rating part of the original script into yours to no success.*
Anyway I will just run the original before running yours.
Thanks for the list of tones (and all your support) by the way.

155

You're right, there are too many tags.
Still if I want to watch a movie say on Palestine, the "palestine" tag will be there, while the tone will not.
Is there a list of Allmovie tones somewhere?
I guess it's up to me to choose what I prefer to use, thanks for the info.

In terms of rating, I have noticed that If I want to add the Allmovie rating with your script I will have to add a custom field called "Allmovie rating". I would like to still use the original script way which is changing "additional rating" into "allmovie rating".
Could you tell me what I need to change?

156
 Hi Rick,

I am using your script to scrape the review from allmovie and I would also like to have the 'tones' added to my movies.
My problem is that I would like to keep my tags and add a similar 'Tones' field.
If I use the modification provided by Ivek23 I get the tones, but not as clickable items. I really would like to have them as clickable items (like tags are). Would you know how?
 Thanks in advance.

NOTE: I have also just noticed that when using your script the rating is not captured, and when using the original one, it is. My overwrite options are the same for the two scripts.

Talk / Re: Which player do you use
« on: June 07, 2010, 06:32:15 am »

I am using VLC on my TV, on which I plugged my multimedia PC.
I had started by using MPC Home theatre and had followed a guide to optimize it for better image quality but I got tired of all the tweaks (different movies files with different qualities and encoding need different settings and adjustement). Also my (poor vision?) eyes cannot see much difference between a tweaked MPC rendering and a VLC rendering.

HOWEVER, if there is something better (even if it is -only slightly- more complicated) out there please let me know.
Rick, what player is J River MC using?

  I have seen this recently:

  Les derniers jours du monde
  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1390405/

End of the world atmosphere, but viewed from a very different angle than the one we are used to.
Made me think a lot on the amount of information I am receiving everyday (RSS feeds, blogs, etc.)   and my positioning towards it. What do I really care about?

It can sound pretentious at times (like many French movies) but still, it is a great film.

OK thanks that makes sense now, even though it is rather surprising.

Maybe Nostra could add that to his TODO list (sorry Nostra, more work  :-\) ?
