Support / Switch interface language?
« on: November 18, 2011, 09:26:15 am »

 Hi all,

is it possible to switch PVD's interface language?
I am installing it for the second time on a new computer and both time I choose "english" as the installation language and both times it was installed in French.
I am based in France but my OS is in English.
Thanks!

How do you work in GOM with multiple subtitles files?

I just through auto-update system transferred AllRovi script and test and rating Rovi normally works in the custom field as well as an additional rating if I change this setting
Code:

GET_RATING   = False;   //Set to True to add 'Rovi rating' as the standard 'Additonal rating' field

as seen above.

Thank you Ivek23 it now works very well and I even discovered options I was not using. ;D

Hi Ivek23 and Rick, I already thanked you for this but hey thank you again!

I have a slight problem. For some reason, Allrovi script does not gather the rating anymore. I have not changed anything to the preferences, the "additional rating" box is checked. I wonder if there was a change in the last version that caused this?

 I have just used it.
I did not have trouble finding movies.
However you are right, the plugin does not download the full plot summary anymore.
Hopefully someone can update the script soon.

I think he was just trying to cast his vote for this feature.
It's a way to show Nostra that several people would like that feature.

Feature Suggestions / Re: Scan favorite folders
« on: March 04, 2011, 02:08:55 pm »

I want to scan only when I choose to scan, not everytime pvd opens.
Actually I feel stupid, I did not realize that I could save the folders, but not tick the box that says "scan everytime pvd starts".

Still, the only way to scan when I want, is to tick the box, close pvd, open pvd (do the scan and everyting) then untick the box before closing pvd again.

A "scan favorites folders now" button would solve this workaround.

EDIT: By playing with it I just realize that it DOES it!
I must have waisted so much time going through the ticking process...

Feature Suggestions / Scan favorite folders
« on: March 04, 2011, 09:09:02 am »

 Hi all,

I know it is possible in PVD to save a path to scan everytime PVD is started, but this is not a solution in my case because my movie folders are in different hard drives of a network computer. Also scanning them takes time and ressources so I really don't want to do this everytime PVD starts.

I want however to scan them everytime I add movie files to that network computer. And the problem is that going through the "select directory or files" to select these hard drives far away in my network takes a long time. I have to select them one by one, and PVD scans them every time I tick the box next to them. The whole process of selecting them before the actual scan is about 6 minutes if I am fast.

Hence my idea: Could there be a way in pvd to have these hard drives selected by default in a menu so that I only have to press a button to scan them whenever I need to do so?

 Thanks for listening.

Yeah, I have thought about it already. Most probably I'll create a script some time.

Hi Nostra, I hate to do this and I don't mean to put pressure on you who gave us that beauty PVD for free, but the one year anniversary of that quote has passed, and I would love to know if you started developing this scraper?

Here is another thread about it showing the interest there is for it:

OK so if I understand correctly, I would just need to filter my series for example, then run the export template to move the series to a specific place.
Then Scan folder would change the paths.

Could you tell me how to modify the text you proposed?
Are the variables "D" and "md Video2go"? I guess these are the target folder?

Thanks for your support and happy new year to you!

 Hi all,
I am posting this in feature suggestions because I suspect the answer to be "no", but please feel free to delete/move this message if it is possible. And explain to me how please! [Edit: Moved to Support]

 First example:
_ My movies/Shorts/Series files are all in the same directory (i.e. spread accross several hard drives) and I would like to start grouping the series and shorts into two separate folders called "Series" and "Shorts". I would like to use PVD's help to do this, by applying a filter to "shorts" for example and then move all the corresponding files to a new folder called "Shorts". Of course in the process I would like PVD to automatically change the file paths...

Second example:
_ My friend would like to put a few of my movies onto his USB hard drive. He plugs it in, Select a few movies in (the Grid maybe?) PVD and then copy (not move) the movies files into his Hard drive.

I know I can do the "open containing folder" but it is one video at a time, right?

Thanks!

Development / Re: Mediaportal export plugin!
« on: November 21, 2010, 07:31:24 am »

I knew Rick was going to intervene with his beloved J River!  ;)

J River is highly tempting and I tried to use it, unfortunately the whole process has been like a trauma for me. Remember? For some completely obscure reason I could not get it to work, the firebird installation and use completely corrupted my PVD database file which became unusable without firebird running or without the use of old firebird embedded files. As a result I had to rebuild a 6000 movies database using an export/import process, and work my way through renaming 5500 images so that they could be properly re-attached to each record using ImgID. Of course I lost some (small %) data in the process.
Now I have a nice clean working PVD file but I have not fully recovered from the adventure!
Of course I know I could (should?) try again with a proper backing up of the file (saved in a gold plated external HDD) but I really don't feel like it...

Oh OK I did not realise Win7 had a "programdata" folder, unlike XP that has "application data", so I could not find the mediaportal data file.

I have just tested on a small sample, and it look like it just flawlessly worked.
I have now to explore mediaportal because I am worried that I will be disappointed (like I was by xbmc) by the lack of powerful searching capabilities such as the ones found on PVD.

 Hi Nostra,

I have now upgraded my XP OS to a nice Win7 and I have installed mediaportal to it.
As I am completely new to it, I am trying your plugin on a small "4 movies" database and I just don't know how this work.
I get an error message when trying to save the db3 file, and to be honest I don't even know what I am supposed to do with that file when I will manage to generate it.
I had a look at your posts on the MP forum but it did not help me.
A short set of instructions would greatly help me.
Thanks!

Talk / Re: How big is your database?

I am not interested in every single actor and like you said the movie collection is too big to have all actors imported, so I do just that:

I understand this might be simply clicking on people in Movie view if and when you're interested in them. This will make the one selected visible, and switch you to People view where it would only take a few seconds (hopefully) to download their information. In other words, they could be added on an "as needed" basis

 Hi all,

I searched the forum for that suggestion and could not find it. Please delete that message if it was already proposed.
In my process of adding movies into pvd, I am sometimes in need of a feature that could allow me to right-click a video file and select say "Add as a PVD entry".
This would then generate a movie entry in PVD where the file path would automatically be filled.
I guess the title also could be generated from the file name (or not).
I guess in the case of 2 CD's movies, two files could be selected before right-clicking...?

 Thanks for listening.
