Great. Now I have to watch Waterworld again—to try to figure out why I didn't hate it as much as the critics. :P

I don't have such a list, but I'm normally close to agreement with the IMDb rating, so...

Following is my Advanced search result for IMDb rating >= 7.5 AND allmovie rating < 5.

It's fun to watch a movie like August Rush, feel good, read some reviews, then feel bad about feeling good. According to Berardinelli, "August Rush isn't just a bad movie - it's an aggressively bad movie." I'd be really conflicted if Ebert didn't like it. :-\

1. August Rush (2007)
    Romance, Music, Drama
Should it be rated 7.5 or 3.0?

2. Bucket List (2007)
    Drama, Comedy, Adventure
Should it be rated 7.6 or 4.0?

3. Butterfly Effect (2004)
    Thriller, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Drama
Should it be rated 7.8 or 4.0?

4. Funny Games (1997)
    Crime, Drama, Horror, Thriller
Should it be rated 7.7 or 4.0?

5. Zero Kelvin (1995)
    Drama
Should it be rated 7.5 or 4.0?

6. Love Actually (2003)
    Romance, Drama, Comedy
Should it be rated 7.8 or 4.0?

7. Man on Fire (2004)
    Thriller, Crime, Action, Drama
Should it be rated 7.6 or 3.0?

8. Mr. Brooks (2007)
    Thriller, Mystery, Drama, Crime
Should it be rated 7.6 or 4.0?

9. Earth Entranced (1967)
    Drama
Should it be rated 7.8 or 4.0?

10. Elite Squad (2007)
     Action, Crime, Drama, Thriller
Should it be rated 8.1 or 4.0?

What timing! I just watched Planet of the Apes (1968). Not for the guilty pleasure, of course, but because of its historical importance. But somehow its four sequels and the even crappier 2001 version have appeared on my hard drive. I feel myself slipping... Just how bad are they? Am I losing perspective by watching too many good movies? :-\

Since you're encouraging me, here's a dare: I'll watch Planet of the Apes (2001) if you watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. ;D

I don't have a list either but I have seen a few of the movies listed and liked them, Including Waterworld.

Seems I like most of the movies that have a bad rating, and don't care for lots of the ones that have a good rating.

Maybe I should seek some kind of help for this lol.  :D

Feel free to consider us a support group. I still haven't recovered from watching the entire Planet of the Apes series (plus the sequel!) in six consecutive days. I don't know what possessed me.  :-[

An old favorite: "Star Trek: The Motion Picture."  ;D

And a recent addition: "Star Trek" (2009)

The former was criticized for many reasons: being too long, too closely resembling a TV episode, the actors went around like they hadn't aged in 15 years, not enough action for a theatrical movie, the costumes looked like pajamas, etc. etc.  But it did launch the franchise onto the big screen; also, I love the music and F/X, and the refit of the U.S.S. Enterprise. I like it enough that I got the 25th Anniversary Director's Cut, which tweaks certain elements to make a more cohesive whole.

As for the latter, one could write a book on the gaping plot holes and violations of Star Trek canon/lore committed by the writers and director, not to mention the redesign of the Enterprise looks awkward and ungainly compared to the original. But I still felt it captured the feel and spirit of "Star Trek", and it was pretty entertaining in its own right.
