User defined filter.

Hi Nostra,

Would it be possible to have a user defined filter.
Something along the lines of a drop down selection containing all database fields that the user can select and possible filter on or off against that. ie the field is populated with data or not.

I am trying to find all movies that have the media location as unpopulated after adding new entries.
This would allow me to do a bulk add of movies, filter on whatever field (in my case the media location) and then go an populate this field and store my movies (physically) in this location

Tried to achieve the same thing using advanced search it doesn't appear to let you search against unpopulated if there is data in unpopulated. I tried to add a "null" under preferences/lists/locations. It allowed me to add a null value, but searches don't work against it.

Mathematically, "null" means "empty" or "not existing." It is a condition, not a value that can be searched. In Advanced Search, select the "is null" or "is not null" operator, as appropriate.

Yep - I know. I want to be able to filter on fields that are empty.
ie filter/search on the "media location" field and return a result when that field contains no data.

When I tried adding it via preferences/lists, I selected the "add" box with selection box empty (clicked in it but didn't add anything),
It added what appears to be a "null" selection, but this does not appear to work when selecting it from an advanced search.

Didn't realise you could click on the word (eg. containing) to change its value.
(This should be added to help index thread)

Would it be worthwhile making this 'condition selector' a selection box so it is more obvious that it is user selectable?
