Google poster search?
« on: December 20, 2010, 07:55:25 pm »
hi

is there a way to use google to search for posters like Movie Collector does?

http://www.collectorz.com/movie/upgrade.php#findcover
New: Find Cover Image screen
•Find missing cover images online and add them to your database with just a few clicks. The screen shows results from Google Images, based on title, barcode and format.
•Built-in Crop tool to remove unwanted borders.
•Get to the Find Cover Image screen:
◦by clicking the new "No Cover" placeholder image in Details View.
◦right from Preview in the Add Movies Automatically screen, when no cover is found in the Collectorz.com online movie database.
◦from the right-click menu on any movie entry in the main screen.
◦from the Images tab in the Edit Movie screen

No, but I don't see much point. In the rare event a suitable poster is not found by one of the existing poster plugins, I use a Google Images Web search. If the other sources don't have anything, it's not going to be easy to find something with Google either. The full browser interface is needed to deal with the search results. Google Images has convenient features for filtering the search results. And, of course, the search itself can be revised. None of these things can be done using the standard selection dialog.
