Simple script for iafd.com
« on: June 20, 2010, 11:26:11 am »
Hello,

After some testing I declare my first script ready and want to share it with you. I guess some parts could be solved more elegantly, but I don't want to spend more energy on it.

Keep in mind that iafd has only very little information about the movie (and no posters) so most of the fields will not be filled.
What is HAS is a really consistent person database with names actors always by their real name (and the alternative name in () ).

Last but not least: iafd has some anti-robot protection, locking your IP for several hours (I only hit that limit once, must be somewhere >1000 requests per day....)

Have a nice day,
SM

Cool, thanks.

Just wanted to draw your attention to a minor problem... the description field in the "IAFD People" script says "Get movie information from IAFD.com", not "Get people information".

Hey, I don't suppose you're working on getting the script to import the rest of an actor's biographical information? Right now, I have to visit IAFD and copy everything from the "AKA" through "Website", then paste into Personal Video Database's "Biography" field. I know you already parse/extract some of this stuff and use it to fill in alternative names, birth date, and so on, but it'd be cool to have the rest imported automatically as well.

Indeed I currently don't plan to extract those info (It's not really complicated, but a lot of cutting strings and appending them). Maybe I'll add the infos if there are custom fields for actors available one day...
