Scripts and Templates / Re: Export template: HTML List (English + German)
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:03:36 pm »
Hello there!
Wanted to export my list using your template, which I hadnt used for many months, when a wild bug appeared.

The export goes well, no message, then the html page opens in firefox.
But the files folder wasnt created correctly, it is called "%fname%_files". So yeah nothing works.

Looking around in the template code, I tried to figure out a way around this. I managed to make the thing work by simply replacing all the call for "%fname%_files" as well as "{%value=233}_files" by simply "files". But the film images still wouldn't show up...
I believe the problem is not in the code but somewhere in my pvd config or my system ?

I use windows 7 x64 pro, and pvd 0.9.9.21.
Any idea ? :)

Support / Overwrite fields problem with imdb plugin.
« on: August 23, 2011, 12:29:28 pm »
Hello. I have had a problem for some time with the imdb plugin:
when I want to update infos for a film already in my database, I don't want the program to change some fields. I use the "overwrite fields" checkboxes in the configuration, and it works nicely with most fields if I want them updated or not, but it doesn't work with the main "TITLE" field. In my collection, a lot of films have that field empty, and I only use the ORIGINAL TITLE field. When the TITLE field is empty, the imdb plugin always fill it, even when the TITLE overwrite checkbox is unchecked.
Any solution ?

Support / Re: "Film Editor" & "Cinematographer" Fields?
« on: April 24, 2011, 08:34:24 pm »
sorry for bumping this. was also wondering about these "missing" fields. I particulary miss the "cinematographer" field. It's such an important job, even though it's not often under the spotlight in the media.
I hope it will be added soon :)

Sorry for letting your post unanswered. I don't come to the forums very often (only when I have something to whine about, really :p ).
I do have a very slow computer indeed. I tried the page on a newer computer, it works fine.
I might come around some day when I have time to play around with your template. I will probably come around then and bore you with my problems, seeing how poor my coding is  ;D
cheers.

I should try a little harder before I ask for help. I figured out (after randomly changing stuff in the code ^^) everything I needed.
But yes, the "Further Options" is quite a problem. I used it with a smaller list (50 entries), it took about 30 seconds. For bigger lists, it's very slow. I suppose I'll just avoid using it ;)

And again, thank you for this very nice template. And so easy to use for noobs like me !

Hello there.
I tried this export template today for the first time, and was very pleased with the result.
I made some minor changes on the layout to suit my needs, but there are a couple of changes that I can't do myself. I don't want to mess with the codes (my knowledge about coding is very basic), and all the comments in the code are in german. I hope you guys could help me with it ?

I would love to modify the framed template to have both original and translated title in the film lift (and possibly original title first).
Also, I would like to have the films ordered by year as default setting.

Any chance you could help me with that ? I'd be very grateful.

edit: Also, the "Further Options" doesn't seem to work well. I haven't read all the posts in this thread, so I don't know if it has been reported by someone else. I a "Rebuilding List" popup, but then nothing happens. I have "only" 300 entries exported, and I let the "rebuilding" process run for a long time, but it doesn't seem to work. Tried on Firefox and IE. Does anyone else have this problem ?

*ouaf

Support / Find PVD entry from filepath
« on: February 11, 2011, 09:33:54 pm »
Hello.

Is there some way to retrace a file in PVD ? I have some files that are apparently already in the database, yet I can't find where.
When I use the scan function of PVD on the said files, it doesn't find any new files (meaning that the files are already in the db)... So I think I made a mistake somewhere, and the file is already pointed at somewhere. Is there a way to find out where, without having to check by hand ?

Support / Left menu: Title format
« on: May 21, 2010, 09:21:29 am »
Hello ! I've been around quite a few times already to ask for help tweaking my PVD :p

On the left menu, that's how i configured the film title display: %O (%T) (%Y)
The translated title is for me the French title (since, you guessed it right, Im French).
Problem is, sometimes there is no French title. Actually, pretty often. And of course, I let the field empty for French films.
So, in the left menu, I have a lot of empty "()":
Quote
Film's Name () (2008)

So, I wonder if there is a command for conditional display. Like adding some special character that would tell the program to display only if the field is not empty (something like [%T], i don't know).
I guess it's not featured yet, I would love it if you could add it to the todo list !

Thanks a lot

I add original titles in the "original title" field (that sounds right, doesnt it?), using original characters (chinese, korean, russian, whatever)
And I use french translated titles, if any, in the "title" field.
So of course I need both field, really. And when it's a french film, or a foreign film with no french title, then my "title" field stays empty. So I end up with nothing in the "title" column in filmographies, and it looks stupid ;p

Thanks nostra for adding that to your todo list.

Also, since I opened this thread, i've got another request:

I burn my films on dvd, whose labels (number) I enter in the "media label" field.
I made a fine html export template for my needs, but I want the film to be sorted using that "media label" field. It would be nice for me to have a list sorted by dvd number (media label), so I can easily know what's in each dvd without having to open pvd.
I've checked your thread for "creating templates" in the forum, but it seems that there is no option to sortby="value" with value being the "media label" field.

Support / Modify the people skin.
« on: March 30, 2010, 10:55:43 am »
Hello. Is it possible to change some things in the "filmography" par of the people's skin ?
I would like, for one, to have the Original Title appearing on the left, and "title" (= translated title) appearing on the right. The default configuration is the opposite of that.
There's nothing to be changed in the skin's xml, nor in the software options. Or maybe I didnt look in the right place ?

TIA !

I guess I didnt really try to find out by myself what the problem was :) I checked the preference menu and couldnt find the colours configuration.
Anyway, thanks for your help!

Support / Multiple Movies Editor crashing PVD
« on: January 28, 2010, 01:43:43 pm »
Hello.

For my use, I often need to select a few films and hit the edit button to use the multiple movies editor.
Sometimes, when I do so, after the editor opens, the program freeze. I cannot click anywhere, nor can I close the editor. I have no other choice but ctrl alt sup.

I use the latest stable version (0.9.9.14), Im running windows XP.
It happens quite randomly, the number of film selected for edition doesnt matter.
I tend to wait a bit before I click the edit button, but it still freezes sometimes, maybe one out of 10 times.

Anyone got the same problem ?

Also, my computer is quite old (Athlon 2000+, 1Gb DDR), but Im still a little upset with the performances. It takes up to 2 or 3 seconds to change from a film page to another, and even more to switch from normal mode to edit mode. Why is that ?
It's a shame really, because otherwise PVD is EXCELLENT, and I say that after having tried loads of similar programs.

Anyway, if one can help me deal with that bug ? Thanks a lot !

thank you for answering.

Maybe a small option somewhere in the preferences panel to chose how many credits/actors we want to display by default.
1 actor is not enough, the complete actor list is way too much :)

I will be looking forward to that small update !

And thanks again for this program.

Support / Movie description - Display more than 1 actor by default.
« on: December 08, 2009, 06:16:55 pm »
Hello.
First, I enjoy PVD. I went through a lot of trouble to import my AMC database, but it's finally taking form.

I would like to modify the default film display a bit: I would like to see more actors without having to click the + button. When I display all the actors, since I chose to import them all from imdb, I get a very long list.
But if I dont click the + button, it only display 1 actor. Is there a way to change that so I can display maybe 5 or 10 actors ? IMDB usually display main actors first, so I'd have the 5 or 10 main actors displayed without having to click on the +.

I'm sorry, I'm a bit tired and have difficulties expressing myself clearly in english ;)

Any help appreciated, sorry if the question was asked before, I tried to use the search on the forum with no success.

Development / Re: PK's MovieDB dynamic website template
« on: June 21, 2009, 06:03:21 pm »
thank you for your fast answer. I DID think you were the original author :)

My AMC database has about 1800 entries, but I have some problems with the content, and Im starting a complete new database. It might take a while, but I don't get much sleep anyway :P

I hope you will correct the problem with the countries.

I also hope (yeah I know, i ask a lot, but it is just suggestions), that you will include screenshots in your next version.

That's a great work you're doing, Im sure a lot of people is following your work :)

I have a couple of questions:

1) About characters encoding.
I don't know much about char encodes, so forgive me.
I need to include foreign characters to my DB, mostly east asian (chinese, japanese). As you know, AMC was not friendly with those so I had to enter unicodes in the database so that the characters show up in your template.
Now, I see I will have to do changes in the charset to make your template work fine, will it be ok for east asian chars ?

2) Countries
Someone in AMC forums made some changes in your script so that multiple countries can me supported better.
I see your script still doesnt do that, neither in the menu or in the movie details.
I don't want to have "France, Italy" or "USA, UK" in my menu, i prefer that my movies enter both category separatly.
Is it possible to change that ? I see your menu has both "France, Italy" and "Italy, France", I suppose it annoys you too :)
In the details, it's not as big a problem, but if countries were not grouped, that would be better too.

3) Fields
Could you possibly list all the fields you are using for your script in here ?
I'm willing to start my list from scrap (because my amc database as a lot of problems imo), and I would like to start it with the same pattern as yours :)

THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH (oops caplocks)
btw, i just saw the support of tags, it's very nice too.
