Support / The Movie Database script
« on: February 02, 2018, 03:54:50 pm »
Hi all,
I am not sure Ivek or anyone else can help but the Movie Database script has stopped working, is it fixable?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I cannot explain to myself what is going on.
If I change the file path of a movie file, the title that is supposed to be displayed on the left of the page becomes blank.
See attached screen.
If I put back the initial file path the title stays blank.
Would you know what is going on?

Support / A simple request for you techies
« on: March 31, 2014, 10:05:41 am »
Hi all,

I am using the skin called "PVD Classic Tabs remix (eng)", and I would like to slightly modify it to remove the blue bar at the top containing the title (see screen attached).
If the bar cannot be removed then I would need to make it much smaller.

Would you know what I need to remove/modify in the file?

Thanks a lot!

Feature Suggestions / Suggestion for Ivek23
« on: November 12, 2012, 07:20:07 pm »

 Hi all,

I'm sorry for putting this on you Ivek23 but I have been dying for seeing a Rotten tomatoes ratings import for PVD.
I cannot help to notice that you were able to fix the IMDB script so that it could take the IMDB ratings....
Would you be able to do the same for RT ratings?

I do not care about any other info coming from RT, only their ratings.

I don't know if this can help you, but there is a Chrome extension that brings RT ratings into the IMDB page.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/imdbrt/dhmlipoakdghhhemjmefopbcdcobiphp
If you install the extension, then go into your chrome extension manager you get access to the script (background html) it uses.

I wonder if that script could not help you (or anyone here) to "transcript" it for PVD.

I hope I am making sense, and I know this has been requested a while ago, but RT ratings are soooo much better than IMDB's that I constantly check them out on the IMDB page using the extension.

It is perfectly OK for you to tell me to bugger off and delete that request  :)

Thank you for your efforts (past and future).

 D.

Support / Switch interface language?
« on: November 18, 2011, 09:26:15 am »

 Hi all,

is it possible to switch PVD's interface language?
I am installing it for the second time on a new computer and both time I choose "english" as the installation language and both times it was installed in French.
I am based in France but my OS is in English.
Thanks!

Feature Suggestions / Scan favorite folders
« on: March 04, 2011, 09:09:02 am »

 Hi all,

I know it is possible in PVD to save a path to scan everytime PVD is started, but this is not a solution in my case because my movie folders are in different hard drives of a network computer. Also scanning them takes time and ressources so I really don't want to do this everytime PVD starts.

I want however to scan them everytime I add movie files to that network computer. And the problem is that going through the "select directory or files" to select these hard drives far away in my network takes a long time. I have to select them one by one, and PVD scans them every time I tick the box next to them. The whole process of selecting them before the actual scan is about 6 minutes if I am fast.

Hence my idea: Could there be a way in pvd to have these hard drives selected by default in a menu so that I only have to press a button to scan them whenever I need to do so?

 Thanks for listening.

Support / Moving video files
« on: December 30, 2010, 10:24:56 am »
 Hi all,
I am posting this in feature suggestions because I suspect the answer to be "no", but please feel free to delete/move this message if it is possible. And explain to me how please! [Edit: Moved to Support]

 First example:
_ My movies/Shorts/Series files are all in the same directory (i.e. spread accross several hard drives) and I would like to start grouping the series and shorts into two separate folders called "Series" and "Shorts". I would like to use PVD's help to do this, by applying a filter to "shorts" for example and then move all the corresponding files to a new folder called "Shorts". Of course in the process I would like PVD to automatically change the file paths...

Second example:
_ My friend would like to put a few of my movies onto his USB hard drive. He plugs it in, Select a few movies in (the Grid maybe?) PVD and then copy (not move) the movies files into his Hard drive.

I know I can do the "open containing folder" but it is one video at a time, right?

Thanks!

Feature Suggestions / Contextual menu in Explorer
« on: November 15, 2010, 03:17:20 pm »

 Hi all,

I searched the forum for that suggestion and could not find it. Please delete that message if it was already proposed.
In my process of adding movies into pvd, I am sometimes in need of a feature that could allow me to right-click a video file and select say "Add as a PVD entry".
This would then generate a movie entry in PVD where the file path would automatically be filled.
I guess the title also could be generated from the file name (or not).
I guess in the case of 2 CD's movies, two files could be selected before right-clicking...?

 Thanks for listening.

I didn't know where to post that but I just wanted to say THANKS to Nostra for his effort in developing that plugin.
I have not tested it and won't be able to do so for a while but I can't wait!  ;D

Feature Suggestions / New version? [1.0.0 to be released in 2011]
« on: September 10, 2010, 12:23:22 pm »
OK I am going to be politically incorrect, rude and pushy, and ask the question that I am sure a lot of people here have in mind.........

When can we expect a new version from Nostra?

I know I shouldn't ask this, considering PVD is free for all of us (thank u thank u thank u), but I just can't resist!

Feature Suggestions / Subtitles scan?
« on: September 02, 2010, 12:10:51 pm »
 Hi all,

I have a lot of .avi movie files with next to them subtitles files (either .srt or .sub+.idx ones).
The subtitles files are named the same as the movie files.
Wouldn't it be possible for the folder scan to scan through the directory where the movie file is stored and spot these subtitles files?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it does not do that at the moment.
It only recognize subtitles if they are in the container, e.g. an mkv file.

This feature would greatly help me find out about movies were subs are missing.

 Thanks!

Feature Suggestions / Trailers
« on: August 12, 2010, 03:00:36 pm »

Whenever I want to see the trailer of a movie, I use the following Web search from within PVD:

 http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%s+trailer&aq=f%u

95% of the times, the first video found on the youtube website is the trailer I was looking for, and Youtube is RICH in trailers.

Isn't there a way (I'm not sure how best this could be integrated into PVD's interface) that this could be used to quickly watch the trailer of any of the movies in the database?
I'm seeing an internal flash player that could play the trailer directly from PVD's interface?
Or a direct link to the streaming video (that would have been grabbed by some kind of youtube scraper) that would directly open in VLC or any other player able to play streaming videos?
I don't know I'm basically thinking of an improvement that would not require the opening of any browser to the youtube page.

 Just an idea.

Talk / Movies you recently wasted your time watching
« on: August 12, 2010, 06:47:50 am »

This happens to me a lot....I chose the wrong movie to watch.
Then my partner goes to bed in the middle of it and I stay until the end just because I hope things are going to get better...and they don't. :'(

So I thought it would be fun to list these recently watched movies that are worth deleting from PVD or at least from the Hard Drive.
 In the past 2 weeks:

 - The infidel: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1424003/ Ratings: IMDB(6.2) Mine(3)
 - Paraiso Travel http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475860/ Ratings: IMDB(7.2) Mine(4.5)
 - The Lovely bones http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0380510/ Ratings: IMDB(6.6) Mine(3.5)

 Hi all,

what do you do when the file scanner suggestions are plain wrong?
Just to give you a few examples:

Filename: moon     file scanner suggestion: Change file path for "in the shadow of the moon"
Filename: hair       file scanner suggestion: Change file path for "l'ecole de la chair"
Filename: or         file scanner suggestion: Change file path for "American splendor"

I am bad at editing regex so what I am looking for are solutions that would stop these suggestions to pop back again when I scan another time.

When I click "ignore", what does it do exactly? does it "lock" the file for ever?

Thanks

Support / [FAQ] Aargh.... file path not imported
« on: July 19, 2010, 05:41:09 pm »
Hi me again sorry for all the posts but problems are piling up...

Before I describe the problem let me describe the method I am following.
PVD won't import an XLS file for an unknow reason and would give me an error everytime I try.
So I am using CSV import instead and it works.

I basically create an xml exportd file from my corrupted database, convert it into a csv file, delete the columns/fields that i do not need to import in the new database.
Then when I import the csv file in the new database, for some reason the "file path" field gets populated with the field that is just before it in the csv file!

I even tried to create a csv file that is two columns only, ID and File path.
When I import (after having modified the csv import to limit it to ID and Path), the File path gets populated with the ID number!!

I'm going crazy here, the delimiter is fine, the csv import configuration corresponds to the csv file and yet it does not take the path.

 Am I missing something here?
aaaarh I need some fresh air.

Support / [SOLVED] Fbembed error when using IMGbyID
« on: July 11, 2010, 06:15:10 pm »
I have a fresh install of PVD (removed settings).
I am trying to attach posters to a newly create database using IMGID and after pressing "process images" I get the error message "can't load library fbembed.dll"

Nostra you might think this is related to the problem I was trying to solve recently but I am on a different computer with new install of PVD and a new database file (hence not corrupted and that opens with no tweaking needed)

Note: I tried installing firebird and have the services running, I still get the error message...

 Thanks

 Hi again,
I am creating a new database by CSV importing from an existing database.
The date added that appear in the new entries are not the ones I can find in my CSV file, would you know how to make sure that date added field is taking the value found in the csv file?

Also, I have been using the comma delimiter since the file I use is a csv, but there are commas in descriptions, actors, etc. so the import tool will take these as delimiters. Would you know how to get around that?
I have changed the settings in XP to use the ";" instead of the comma, but I guess that's a bit far fetched no?
 Any better solution would help.

Thank you all.

Support / [SOLVED] Bug when saving posters to folder
« on: July 11, 2010, 02:26:47 pm »
Hi all, because my corrupted database file cannot be fixed  :'( I am working on an export/import process, in order to create a new clean database file.
The first step for this is to have all my posters in a separate file, in order to later re-attach them to my database entries. I have read a few posts on this and I am hoping that I will be successful.
The first problem I meet is when I save posters to a different folder.
I have at the moment 5400 posters to be saved.
So I go to Folders and selected a folder for images, and then untick the box "save images in database file", then click on OK, the program starts working on saving the posters.
It will then give me an error message (I attached the bug report below).

If I look at the posters folder, I can find there 2190 posters only, and not 5400, so the process has been stop by the error.
By the way, the missing posters are then lost, they do not appear in the database file, and they are not in the posters folder.
 Thank God for inventing backups...

Would you help me understand and fix the error met in the process please?

 Thanks

Scripts and Templates / Rotten Tomatoes ratings
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:03:18 pm »

 Hi all,

I know a Rotten Tomatoes scraper was already requested and I don't think one has been produced yet.
What I am wondering is if anyone who has magic programing fingers would be able to create a simple short script that would ONLY scrape the RottenTomates Ratings.
I find that these ratings reflects much better what I feel than any other.
Allmovie ratings are good also but really what works better for me are the RT ratings.

So ideally I would love to have a script that would add the RT ratings into a Rotten Tomatoes Rating custom field.
I know this is one of many requests so I do not expect this to be done soon (if ever) but just in case it is easy to build... ;)

Thanks!

Support / Language/Original Language
« on: April 29, 2010, 08:27:00 am »

I was looking at my stats for languages and found out that most of my movies had no "language" information.
However when looking at movie records I found a field called "Original language", and most of my movies have this info properly filled in.

If you look at the screenshot you'll see that I have two "undefined" groups for languages. In these group, the movies have an "original language" filled in. I guess it is not recognised as being the "language" field.
These "original language" informations are coming from imdb by the way, using the plugin.

Also if you look at the example you will see that the original language is Bengali but it is in the "afrikaan" group. I guess this means that there is in that record a "language" field, not shown on the movie card, containing "afrikaan" value.

How can I make this "language" field appear in the movie card? how can I check it is in the record? Do you know why it is called "original language"?
